His strategy failed, and he was a very sour presence with the media, forever unshaven, on the defensive, snarling, looking perpetually hanged-dog and friendless. I think the one-two punch of too much in-your-face Trippi and too little too late back-burner-Judy (wan and almost irritatingly apolitical) proved Dean was outside of mainsream tastes for leadership. But as posted many times, I'm no true believer in the good doctor; I want to see a winner who scares Team Rove. Dean and Trippi were never gonna intimidate the White House, not now, not ever.
