Liza's Headband said: "If you put a gun to my head, I'd most likely vote for Bernie. Not because I agree with his policies but because he has been the least corrupted by lobbyists, donors, corporations and super PACs. By my count, only the gun manufacturers have seemed to infiltrate his campaign. Considering how slimy and sleazy today's politicians are, that is pretty damn good.

" so why not focus on that instead of trashing everyone. This way youcan avoid all the insults by being constructive

There's no need for you to verify what we all know to be true about you.

And yes, what you purchase and shove into your gaping maw is indeed a vote. And it ain't mythical centrism.

I just meant it's a rhetorical flourish she couldn't pull off on her best day, and today he is not her best day what with so many people calling her on her bs.

It's not the politicians that are wrong with America.

It's the people who refuse to vote.

Leaders evolve, like it or not. PEOPLE evolve, like it or not. Some call it hypocrisy when politicians evolve, but do they also call it hypocrisy when Aunt Tillie evolves? (Or when they themselves evolve?)

Political beliefs, like other emotions, are fluid. And thank the goddess they are! If they weren't we would all have killed each other long, long ago.

Elizabeth Birch (like her or not) finds it possible to both criticize the Hillary then and support the Hillary now.

So if someone is constantly evolving on human rights issues and on their own fundamental beliefs (marriage/criminal justice/equality/etc.), how can that same person legitimately claim to have a moral compass guiding their most important judgement calls and decisions? How does that not cause reasonable doubt of a person's character and integrity?

Sure. People evolve on views and issues all the time. But those people are not running for public office to represent the American people. THAT is why it is criticized and questioned. Political expediency is real and corrupt. It's how nearly every President over the last several decades has gained power. Do you want a lying, two-faced crony in charge of this country?

That HuffPo article was funny.

"Hillary of 1996 is not the Presidential Candidate of today. She knows that DOMA was discriminatory and wrong. Her perspective and knowledge on LGBT issues has deepened extensively since those days."

But that's not what Hillary says! She makes up a lie about how she supported it to stop legislation that was worse.

Germaine Greer.  It's possible to love her for all she's done and will do yet vehemently disagree with some of her recent statements.  Holding contradictory ideas is something the weak-minded (like LfH) hold against others, even tho he's a non-voter informing others that they are hypocrites to vote.

Polls just came out, if you choose to believe them or not, Hillary is at 65% and Sanders has dropped to 24%. I guess the bump is from having a good week and some people finally realizing how wrong it is to malign her and stop believing the lies the republican vendetta has against her.

I believe!

From today's Monmouth University poll for the Iowa caucus:

Clinton currently garners the support of 65% of likely Democratic caucusgoers to 24% for Bernie Sanders. Martin O’Malley clocks in at 5% and Larry Lessig has 1% of the vote.

Clinton enjoys a large lead over Sanders among both male (55% to 33%) and female (73% to 16%) voters.

She also has an edge across the ideological spectrum, leading among voters who are very liberal (57% to 34%), somewhat liberal (68% to 22%), and moderate (69% to 19%).

I'm happy, but it's not really a surprise.

Sanders never really had a shot.  Just getting his ideas out there for discussion is his big win.

I'm glad that you are happy to support a two-party political system enabling racist, homophobic, greedy, corrupt, power-hungry bigots to represent an entire country on the global stage.
