Posted: 4/1/05 at 2:03pmIt just seems to me that someone who is studying for his CONFIRMATION should at least know how to spell CONFIRMATION. Kid, how about editing this and your other thread?

Posted: 4/1/05 at 2:10pmYou should pick a saint that you can relate to. A good way of finding a saint is looking at a list of which saints are the patrons of things that you like. As someone stated before, the patron saints of music and theatre (that's how I got my Confirmation name... I chose Cecilia because of the music). Or, if there's a name you particularly like, look up the story of the saint with that name. Or, choose the saint whose feast day is your birthday... those are all ways that you can find a saint that you like.

Posted: 4/1/05 at 2:15pmMy confirmation name, Grace, is a saint's name, but I chose it because it's a virtue, which makes me the odd duck because I was the only one in my class to do it. I didn't know about St. Grace at the time, but grace as a virtue was important to me. I agree that you should find a name that means something to you.

Posted: 4/1/05 at 3:31pmI am not Catholic but my best friend used Jennifer as her confirmation name after her favorite tennis player (Jennifer Capriati) and just because she has been playing tennis since she was very young. so just pick something with a lot of meaning to you. not necessarily a saint, but something with meaning.

Posted: 4/1/05 at 3:39pmLiam, I am Jewish but I think your confirmation name should have some sort of biblical importance. Some good names are Samuel, Joshua, Joseph, David,Matthew or Jacob. Think about also taking a name of someone who you were named after or an ancestor as a way of honoring their life. By the way Liam, if you were Jewish you would have had to have a Bris when you were 8 days old!

The ones that my immeadiate family has chosen are 'Anthony', 'Bernadette', 'Peter', 'Peter', and 'Therese'.
I have a friend who chose "Michael Claire" because she couldn't decide.
Strangely, my confirmation class included a 'Kiki' and a 'Lulu'. I have no idea what that was about.

Actually, Liam, maybe you should consider a name that's a little less complicated spelling-wise. "Joseph" can be tricky.
My favorite parts of the Bible were written under the names of Luke and Paul.

Posted: 4/1/05 at 10:04pmI went with Marcellinus. I wanted to choose a saint who didn't get picked very often. I was also in a production of South Pacific at the time and one of my friends who went to church with me was playing the character Marcel. It started out as a joke that I was going to use it, but then I looked into it and really liked the saint.

Posted: 4/1/05 at 10:19pmHey Liam, I'm making my confirmation too! They made an exception and let me have two names, genesius (but I'm using the female form, Genesia) for acting and dancing, and cecelia for singing. It's all musical theatre:)
