I was in PetSmart today, saw a gray cat that when I stopped petting her, gave me that same schoolmarm look my cat did. I had to leave the store as I got so sad.

I miss my cat.

and I miss my partners mother..

Putting up the tree didn't help.

I hope this is not a prelude to what this Xmas will be like.

Maybe it was being with and realizing that my parents are starting to wind down......I dunno. Oh well, just felt the need to write this down

Awwwwwwww... Sorry you're down, Elphaba.

I'm envious that your tree is up, though! I have no idea when Jeff and I are ever going to have time to go get ours and decorate it together. Hopefully by December 24th! re: feeling sad

Elphie sometimes life just sucks. Holidays can be hard when we're missing those we've lost. There's nothing to say except I'm sorry!

I get sentimental around Christmas time. I never used to, but now I am missing my dog (whenever I see a Rottweiler I get a little choked up,) and I tend to miss my grandfather. I always tell myself that it's a good thing I feel these things. Makes me know I am a decent human.

Elphaba,

Sorry to hear about your cat and your partner's mom. I'm assuming that both died. The holidays unfortunately remind us of loved ones lost. Much love to you!

Think of what will make YOU happy with regard to Christmas activities and events and then do it. Do not think about how it was in the past or what others think the celebration of Christmas should be.

And you have friends here.

I'm missing a loved one this Christmas, too... I know it's rough. Many hugs to you, one of my favorite posters here.

Focus on the love you have in your life - friends, family members, pets - and let that carry you through. Only a few more weeks, and the holidays will be over.

I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.

Awww babe, I know you've had a rough year. Just do your best to enjoy the holidays despite it all and know that they would want you to make the best of the Christmas even if they're not there to share it with you.

love you!

Life is nothing more than the sum of our experiences thus far, and the longer we live, the more we have had the chance to experience loss and pain. And those overwhelming experiences of grief are only balanced by the moments of joy that we have managed to allow.

Time gives perspective, and the memory of healing. What you can always hold onto, if you’re still here to consider it, is that life does go on – and you are a part of it, whether by choice or circumstance.

What has been lost can never be replaced or replicated – but neither can that which is present. The only solace is to embrace and be thankful for that which you have NOW. Because of the pain you have felt from loss, you can fully appreciate that which you are still blessed to share.

I share your sadness, dear Elph – but also feel that your passion for living can guide you to the lighter side of life. I know you know the difference – and I will truly wish for you to find the balance again.

It's a tough time of year. The older I get, the more I feel loss. There is hardly a Xmas song that doesn't make me cry anymore.

But it's good to feel this way, Elphaba. It reminds you just how much relationships have touched you and your life. It means you have a heart.

Any thought of a missed loved one should make you stronger. For as long as you think of them, they will always be with you in your heart. Never dismiss these feelings Elphaba. They all want to be remembered, as would any one of us here. Stay strong..and

Have a great holiday!

Awwww, Elph. I know how that is. Life stinks sometimes.

But those are are the times when the only thing to do is:

Put on something shiny and slinky, that makes you feel sexy,

Go downtown, to someplace that's dark and smoky,

Find a guy with a horn...

And BLOW, Gabriel, BLOW!

Well, I've been sad too... but then I bought a really cool 1930's vintage dress for five bucks. And that cheered me right up. feeling sad

In all seriousness, though... I do hope you will feel not-so-sad in the near future. *gives Elphie a big hug* You can pull through. Just think of the song "We Can Do It" from The Producers. :) Or...not. Either way, hope you cheer up soon.

Was the gray cat in one of those cages in the front of the store? If so then I think you should get back there right now and bring that baby home. Papa may be right - she may have been sent just to help you fill that hole you're feeling in your heart right now.
