Tiff's Korean Psycho Student Story

So in August, the Vancouver airport was extremely busy because we had visitors, new immigrants, but particularly because all of the international students are heading to school.

One afternoon, a Korean girl, around 20 years old, was being deported. She had tried to come in and apply for a student visa, but she didn't show us the necessary proof of funds to prove to us that she would be able to sustain herself for the next 6 months. Obviously this won't do because if she doesn't have dough or a bank account, we're going to think she's either going to work here illegally and/or not leave when her visa expires.

So an officer is escorting her onto her plane back to Seoul, which is the norm. She had been more or less agreeable up until that point, aside from some yelling and crying.

So she's been fairly docile and cooperative (she spoke fairly good English) and she's boarding this commercial airline, and all of a sudden, she apparently FREAKS out and starts clinging onto the side of the plane's door, screaming for people to help her because she doesn't want to go back. The officer grabs her, and tries to take her off the plane (which you'd think she'd be okay with if she really doesn't want to go back), but at this point, she starts grabbing onto other passengers and clinging onto them and screaming for them to not let us send her back.

So she's hitting the officer (who's like, 6'3 and built like a tank...and very buff and sensitive and funny and...gay. SH*T. Anyhoo...) and he's having none of it, but clearly the pilot is saying there's no way in hell he's going to let the plane take off with a violent crazy peson on board without any supervision or, you know, restraints.

ANYWAY ~~~

So she's been dragged off the plane and all that jazz and she's put in restraints and stuck in a holding cell in the airport's immigration office.

Then she asks one of the officers to remove the restraints because she's been wearing her contacts for hours and she wants to remove them.

WEEIIIRD.

I should add that I'm pretty cool when it comes to blood, but mostly I see it on dead people, so it's...different.

So I'm the closest officer to her cell and I rush over there with a few other people and Korean Psycho's face is COVERED in blood, and her hands are dripping with it.

Argh, my laptop's frozen so I had to move to a new computer and I should finish this quick because I hear I'm eagerly anticipated on a certain other thread.

Anyway, quick recap - crazy Korean, kicked off the plane, screaming and crying, asks to have her cuffs taken off so she can take her contacts out. And minutes later we hear screaming.




So the officers and I rush over there and she's covered in blood, and a couple of officers had to restrain her because she'd started scratching out her eyes. No, not scratching at her eye like picking out eye gunk...scratching OUT her eyes, as in bits of the whites are stuck in her fingernails, one of her eyelids is ripped and there's a LOT of blood. And screaming.

Turns out she's not doing this out of self-destruction, but because she wanted to buy more time to stay in Canada any way possible, so she decided to injure herself. So we ended up detaining her, she had to get eye patches put on, which both absorbed with blood from what I could see, and that's the last I saw of her.

Yeah, pretty much. Crazy, psycho, potato, po-tah-to. She was sort of offbeat. And there's more where that came from.
