glasses perscriptions...

does anyone know how good a glasses perscription is good for?

i've had my current glasses for about 2 years and the frames broke tonight. we super-glued it together but i dont know if that will hold.

i'm pertty sure my perscription didn't change since i can see with my glasses and not see without them. everything's fuzzy right now.

can i just bring my old glasses into an optical place and get new ones? the optical place still has my perscription on file i think.

we emailed the doctor who checked my eyes before and she moved her practice out of town

guess i should give her a call anyways though.

Usually checkups happen every year, so if you haven't gone for a check up in two years you should really go.

Somes states -- I know Texas, for one -- will not allow for a glasses/contacts prescription to be filled if it's more than a year old. Which I think kind of sucks. My vision hasn't changed since I was 18 or so, and I used to have to pay for another doctor's visit every year on top of the cost of the contacts.

If you have good insurance, that check-up only costs $10

And you're really, really lucky. Because most vision insurance sucks.

I just hate the glaucoma test.

I seem to need a new prescription almost every year! geez.

Anyway, many of those glasses places give you the exam free (with an actual doctor)when you buy a pair of glasses. I've done that. But every once in a while you should see an opthamologist for a more thorough checkup than the one you'll get at the glasses place.
