i'm not asking for prayers or good vibes or sympathy or anything.
i'm not asking for anything.
i dont even know why i'm posting this.
my 15 year old yellow lab has been in good health for the longest time.
however, today it was evident that she is no longer happy. all of a sudden, she is un-able to walk and can't make it outside to go ot the bathroom.
we are calling out vet tomarrow morning to ask him to come out to our house and put her to sleep.
it breaks my heart that she'll even suffer tonight untill we can call the vet in the morning.
she lived a very long and full life.
i will miss her very much.
^^ my favorite picture of her... she looked so beautiful.

I too am sorry Abba.
I hope you can keep strong for Molly.
Italian Greyhounds don't die, they go to the Rainbow Bridge. When they get to the bridge they are young and strong again.
I'm sure Molly will get to go to the bridge and play with the other doggies.
When our doggies go to the bridge we miss them but at least we know they are young and happy again.

Molly led a good life and brought you many great memories.
Focus on those and the fact that she's out of any pain.

Posted: 8/12/07 at 7:14pmI'm sorry to hear this, Abba. It's evident how much she meant to you -- but you know she's had a good, long life, and that's what matters. She's beautiful! Take care, and hugs for you!

thanks... i look outside and see her sitting in the shade and it makes me so sad beacuse she has no idea what's going to happen.
to look at her the way she looks now, i almost have second thoughts, but i know that when she tries to get up she will not be able to.
she's still eating dog bones and drinking water, but that's about all she's doing
she did bring me many great memories... if it's ok, i'd like to share some...
when we got her, she was so full of energy that she would pull me and my brother around on sleds in the winter.
she loved wearing clothes... she has a tshirt from old navy that says "kiss me i'm irish" and she wore it for 3 months once... she did not want us to take it off of her.
she went to work with my dad every day when he owned a bike shop. i would go to work with him in the summer and she very quickly became my best friend when i was younger.
we took her to the mall last year for "who let the dogs in" day at west farms. she had her picture taken by a photograper with me (it's in a frame) and a picture of her with a puppy... they were the oldest and youngest dogs at the event.
even as her hips got weak, like most labs do, she still loved going for long walks. everyone at puppy center knew her and would save treats for her.
up untill only recently, she would go find me up in my bedroom if she wanted to go do something. within the past month or so, stairs got hard and she stopped going upstairs. i always loved when she would come in my room beacuse it meant she wanted ot be with me.

Posted: 8/12/07 at 8:13pmShe wasn't uncaring. She was concerned that a suffering dog's life was perhaps being unnecessarily extended.

abba, she sounds like an amazing dog. Good for you for being able to do what's best for your dog, and not have her to suffer any longer.
Best of wishes to you and molly.
