i dont know the name of the show,or the name of the critic...i think it was the new york post critic...he told the audience in front of idina menzel and kristin chenoweth....he went "we r going to realize that the good witch is not as good as we think as so isnt the actress" and then he said that idina was going to win before the tony awards that year..has anyone seen this?
i couldnt believe it when i was watching it
Watching it? Where?
can you re-write that cuz i didn't get it......
:: scratches head ::
It was Theater Talk with Michael Reidel. When he said that he was implying that she was a "bad girl" not a bad actress. Get it "not so good".
But he did make the comment about the Tony's. It was something like, so what do you think about the Tony's. And Kristin launched into her thing about how they were happy the show was doing well, etc., etc. (It had opened recently...no noms were even out. And then he said, so when Idina wins the Tony...and then there was nervous laughter from both girls.
That guy is totally inappropriate.
Riedel is one crazy guy. He became like this big Christina Applegate supporter . and he is known to TEAR performers up.
yes it was "theatre talk" bwayfan3...and it was that michael reidel but i remember exactly he told kristin :"we r going to realize that the good witch is not as good as we think, and so isnt the actress" and kristin was like nodding ...he was sooo rude...i couldnt believe he had the nerve to tell her that to her face.
"we r going to realize that the good witch is not as good as we think, and so isnt the actress"
that sentence STILL doesn't make sense, no matter how many times I read it...

Michael Reidel seems to enjoy behaving like a boor and a trouble-maker, without regard to whatever damage he does to people. His comments to Kristin and Idina were completely inappropriate. But stunts like this also keep his name, and The New York Post, in public view, and people like us commenting on it on the message boards. Unfortunately, it strokes his out-sized ego and sells papers.
TRANSLATION into English:
We are going to realize that the good witch isn't so good, and the actress isn't good either.

Reidel is a swine - in print, onscreen, and in public. Unfortunately, as Grizzabella points out, he revels in the attention he gets from such awful behavior.
I think he's amusing. Come on, why take him so seriously? He is like a joke. The careers of most of the performers he bashed weren't really hurt by his rude comments. I think being bashed by top critics like Brantley, Barnes etc - is something more to worry about than being in Ridel's gossip column.

Reidel said nothing of the sort to Chenoweth. He mentioned while describing Wicked that the good witch is not as good as she seemed. And he said that Idina was going to win the Tony which was probably obvious to all three of them.

Does this happen often. Your post suggests he says this to Kristin on a regular basis.
May I suggest putting down the weights and picking up a book on grammar?

Not that I am trying to defend Reidel in any way, shape, or form, but I still think muscle is misconstruing the comment made.
He wasn't saying she was a bad actress. He meant not good as in she is a "bad girl". I think he was trying to be funny, or charming but it didn't work.

I suspect hearing comprehension is as missing an art as reading comprehension. What do u think, Chita33?
Muscle's post makes Chita happy.

I really can't believe that muscle writes that way.

I don't think you'd find him so amusing if his vitriol were directed at you, ljay. He once accosted me & a group of colleagues because we were wearing show jackets of a show he didn't like. He became verbally abusive & incredibly obnoxious. He wouldn't stop. We actually had to leave to get away from him.
I just watched this interview again to make sure I understood it correctly the first time. Reidel didn't insult her acting, he implied that she's not always such a good girl, and she giggled along with it.
Boorish and tactless as he can be, the situation in question was just an instance of an idiot trying to be charming, but looking like an ass on legs. Kristin actually played it off very well I think. Muscle, no one was told that they were a bad actress. Michael Reidel may be a hater, but there was no hating going on then. Besides, he don't know Kristin.
I saw it. He kind of cowardly added it at the end of the interview, when they had five seconds left, so that Kristin couldn't defend herself. Also, I think the bad actress comment was a bit of a joke, but I'm not sure. I didn't catch that it was a bad girl thing though... Idina and Kristin both handled it rather well, though. I can find the link if anyone wants to see it.
