think, when I came out to my parents in a 24 page missive from college, they called me and both seemed ok. Keyword...SEEMED.
My dads concern was that it can be a very lonely life...I thought what the heck you talking about, I'm getting laid every night...(I was so young and foolish).
It was only when I hit maybe 35 that I found the truth out.....that he had known for awhile before I told them, and that my mother, Ms. Liberal School-Principal (at the time) was so horrified that she threatened never to talk to me again. My dad had to sit her down and saw....'do you NEVER want to see him again?"
She was, apparently totally angry. She has come a long way, and she adores my partner.
To have a parent be ok from the start is so wonderful for you....
It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story...
