hi everyone
i have a dilema:
i need a song that shows my high soprano voice for musical theatre. I was thinking of doing 'I want to be a prima donna' from the entrancess but have gone off it. I then thought of doing 'Glitter and be Gay' but just wouldn't have enough time to learn all the trills, ect before my audition.
Have any ideas?
Thanks
eh, for musical theatre I wouldn't do glitter and be gay. Also, it's harder than it seems. Don't really know many musical theatre songs for high soprano...I hate to do this because i abhor the music and agree that it's oversung, but Phantom of the Opera, maybe??
Phantom of the Opera is the only one I can really think of, but yes, it is pretty over done. You could also look into Maury Yeston's Phantom.

"Poor Wand'ring One," if you've the time to learn it, or "Summertime." There are also a few options from "Light in the Piazza," if you're familiar.

Hello!!
Some great ones are:
'One Last Kiss' - Follies
'Moonfall' - The Mystery of Edwin Drood
A few from Conversation Piece by Noel Coward
'Love Look Away' - Flower Drum Song
The first two are your best bet I reckon. Good Luck!
thanks everyone
really appreciate the help
I would say If I Loved You and take the ending up at the end. Poor Wandering One. Vanilla Ice Cream- She Loves Me.
Think Julie Andrews. Maybe something from My Fair Lady? I Could Have Danced All Night can have the ending go way up.

Green Finch and Linnet Bird from Sweeney Todd is a possibility

Follow Me from Camelot--32 bars, quick learn
Then raise it up to the skies.
...sorry I need to correct something:
"One Last Kiss" is not from Follies, it's from Bye Bye Birdie. "One MORE Kiss" is from Follies...
...that was nitpicky.
