how do you block a poster?
#1how do you block a poster?

seriously. where'd that feature go? i've never blocked anyone in my time here on bww, but i really would like to at this point. the poster adds absolutely nothing of any worth ever to any discussion. i understand what he's going for, but it's just not of any value whatsoever. if you're thinking it's you, it's probably not.
can i get a mod to help me through the process? pretty please with sugar on top?

Can you really block someone from posting on a thread you start? I didn't know you could do that. Share if you get the info.
It's me, isn't it? I bet it is.

"if you're thinking it's you, it's probably not."
Whew, I was worried.
Did the block feature EVER work?
Did you try sending an e-mail to a mod?

Posted: 3/28/08 at 4:27pmyou can't block them from posting, but if i understand the feature correctly, it blocks you from seeing their posts. you would see that they posted on the front page where it shows who started the thread and who was the most recent poster, but not in the thread itself.

liv, it's not you.
you mean in perpetuity, jane, or just when you decide to post. like they pop up when you hit reply and then once you've posted they are gone again?

yes, that's correct, papa. They once again disappear when you're finished posting.
The chance you take is if the poster you've blocked was the last one to post, so that when you're about to type your post-voila! there's the blocked one staring you right in the eye!
#11re: how do you block a poster?
Posted: 3/28/08 at 4:49pmeh, i can take seeing it, but not every freakin' time i look at a thread. besides, i know what post will say as soon as i see the person has posted.

I'm sure a lot of others feel the same way about your postings, papa, but they don't go around blocking you.

It works.
It seems that you need to log out and log back in after choosing to ignore/block a poster's posts.
I've had someone blocked for over a year now and all I get are occasional posts were someone will say "I agree, blocked person!" and it reminds me of their existence.
Then I just block anyone who agrees with blocked person because if they agree with blocked person they must be obnoxious and whiny like blocked person so I don't miss anything there either.
