nothing's bigger than taboo except your wife's fat ass.
and thus the kinder, gentler c&a fades to black.

I think we all need to take a step back here and take a deep breath.
If Corky St. Clair here really wants to start his own theater company in Blaine, who are we to piss on his vision?
Now, Corky, if you could just give us that scene again, only make it BELIEVABLE.
Take it from, "wow, way to fabricate a pm and make someone you do not know look bad..."

i am not going to be deterred in the possibility of creating my own company just because some faceless strangers throw some not-so witty zingers my way on a message board.
how about a production of "backdraft: the musical" - i'll burn newspapers and send the smoke through the vents. I want the audience to feel the heat from the fire, the fear, because people don't like fire, poked, poked in their noses, you know when you get a cinder from a barbeque right on the end of your nose and you kind of make that face, you know, that's not a good thing, and I wanted them to have the sense memory of that.

The whole reason you're being made fun of, Corky, is because you ASKED "some faceless strangers" for advice about starting a theatre company.
And said faceless strangers have noted your flightiness in the short time you've been here. What next, "I want to be a fireman," or "How can I become a ballerina?" threads from you?

yawn.
the only way you people are bearable is that i am on lots of medicine for this flu i've got. otherwise, well let's just say it wouldn't be pretty.
#58re: how to start my own theatre company?
Posted: 4/5/06 at 10:31amthe thread where you posted that a classroom of students were watching and waiting for responses sent up my first red flag, C&A. Perhaps that was all a joke. I hope so.

Posted: 4/5/06 at 10:35amit's never pretty when you post, c&a. pathetic and morbidly fascinating, but never pretty. but i think it's got more to do with the medicine that wasn't taken as opposed to the medicine that was.

"You know Plano Rep folded, so Plano has no theatre company. And Regan Adair is slowly running Richardson Com. Theatre out of business. And Rep Co isn't so great anymore.
We need some legit theatre in far north Dallas. That Eisemann Center has 2 beautiful stages and rarely gets any local use."
1) There are a lot of groups and individuals already looking to make use of Plano Rep's old space, The Courtyard Theatre, so you're a little behind there.
2) Regan Adair is doing a fantastic job with Richardson. Have you seen any of the shows since he took over?
3) Repertory Company still puts on some really great show. Most of their smaller shows are fantastic, but it is whenever they try to stage huge, overly ambitious (for their comapny) shows at the Eismann that they tend to not do as well. But the smaller show they put on at their own theatre are great.
And then you're forgetting tons of of the other 'big' theatres.
Watertower Theatre, Lyric Stage - both put on shows that are better than most stuff in New York.
Uptown Players, Kitchen Dog Theatre - If you're "vision" is to produce new, edgy shows, these two theatres already feel that niche quite extraordinarily.
Dallas Theatre Center - Obviously, Dallas' flagship theatre.
And then there are the smaller, yet still great, companies around the Dallas area - Contemporary Theatre of Dallas, ICT, Classical Acting Company, Theatre Britain, FMPAT.
Quad C - GREAT college theatre.
And then for Children's Theatre, we have DCT, one of the 5 Best Children's Theatres in the nation according to TIME.
And then there is Shakespeare Dallas for Shakespeare.
So I'm not knocking your wish to start a theatre by any means,I think it's great, I'm just very curious as to what your new and original vision is. My bet would be that it is the same as the mission statement for least one of these fanastic theatres.
The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

Namo, like every...creative work (movies, plays, books,) it has three acts. I'm not sure about poems, but hey, whatever.
Beginning. Middle. and End.

Maybe we should encourage children&farts in this endeavor. In fact, why doesn't he open a whole cutural center? It could easily include the world's very first museum of fingerpainting!
Yeah!
