I'm not sure that's totally true, papa. I think she's shrewd enough to acknowledge her negatives, but I think she also holds out hope against hope that a sea-change could come about in the minds and hearts of America and that she would have enough supporters to sweep her to victory.
I think she is as delusional as any other narcissist. ("Someday they'll ALL realize how wonderful I am!") She just keeps her delusions in check.

Posted: 12/22/10 at 1:44pmwell, huck's never been their darling because of his lack of fiscal conservative creds (heh, yeah, i know, like any of them can claim that mantle save for chris christie). i imagine it'll get downplayed if it gets mentioned at all. but since i don't watch fox or listen to limbaugh, i can't really make an educated guess as to how it will be handled. does huck still have a show on fox? if he does, it'll get downplayed because they don't want to eat their own. rush on the other hand is not bound by anything, what with his talent on loan from god.

My take on Palin is that she will enter the primaries, but then end up running as a Tea Party candidate.
What she does best is frame anyone who disagrees with her as (for lack of a better term) "the man" while playing herself and her supporters as "real folk".
From the "liberal media" to Barbara Bush, they're all a part of the system that is trying to control the "real Americans".
It's an excellent strategy for someone who has nothing of substance to say and I applaud her people for coming up with it.
But eventually she's going to put so many generalized groups in the "other category", that there won't be anyone left to support her.

that's a distinct possibility, taz. but i would think that if she does that she's angling for a veep slot because i don't see her as being vain enough to go on a suicide ruin that would derail any gop candidate's possibility of winning in a year when they should have a good chance. she's not nader running on principle.
and let's not forget, she already lost a tea party straw poll to chris christie. plus the rumblings out of a lot of those conventions and events was that while she's a great cheerleader and a good face for the movement, she's not who they would choose to represent them in a presidential election.

Posted: 12/22/10 at 1:59pmIF Sarah does run- nothing is going to stop her. When she loses the Republican Primary, she'll run as a Tea Party thing. When she loses the general election, she'll claim fraud or media bias or blame the RNC for sabotaging her daughter's wedding or El Nino or something. She will not retreat.
