this is a good question. i actually always wondered that too. my friends and i wanted to try it for fun and see what kind of reaction we could get from street performing lol.
i actually heard that you have to "purchase" a permit.. which i found kind of odd, considering most street performers are trying to get money and might not have much in the first place lol.
id start doing it... and then when someone came up and said "you need a permit" id ask them!!!! hahahahah

Do you live in a country where such acts are punishable under death? Or do you live in Iceland....Greatest country on earth?
well, here in the great U S of A you never quite know just what is punishable by death....
In seattle, my friend tried to play chello on the street by an outdoor market for cash, and found out you need a permit, it may be different where you live... but I'd wary on the idea... lone singers don't make as much cash as a group (like duo-wap or blues) or an instrument playing person would...
I know if you wanna do it in like Rockefellar Center you need a permit, but that is all I know.
unless you NEED money and I mean like, your living in a RENT type situation, don't do it
no.....
Hahahahaha,
I'll look into this,
but this post just made my day.
EmieMarie, perhaps some people just wanna do it :) no need to bring them down.
I think its a super cool idea and i might look into it myself.
yea EMIE MARIE! peh!
i am just saying that alot of people look down on these kind of people, its just my oppinion and suggestion, I personally think that there are better things you could do with your time, open mic nights or volunteering to sing at retirment centers,
Not to say it wouldn't be fun to do it for a day, just for fun, but as a regular thing?
Hey, if you're talking about NYC, I've actually looked into this (I have a vocal jazz quartet, we wanted to perform in Penn Station). You have to get a permit if you're going to use amplification, and you can talk to customer service at Penn to get the information. That's all I know, because we didn't pursue it much further lol.
emie marie, i do those things too! it's not like that ALL that i do...plus, you wanna know who once did the street performing thing, avril lavigne. oh but you're right that's a terrible idea!(
Hey, only MY opinion,
but i am only being reasonable
I'm not trying to be a bitch, I am telling thye truth
but you said it's you're opinion and then you inferred that it's a fact at the end of that response. you said it's only my opinion but then rite after you said i am just telling the truth. the truth and an opinion are two very different things. get your facts and opinions straight....but do you realize this is a stupid arguement? haha

i'd say go for it.
Go ahead...
At least I have a too much of a real life to waste it singing in a subway
if you were gonna be mean about it then why did you even respond? do you think i was looking for that? if you're going to make judgments of me having "no life" then i'm gonna do that to you, only mine's gonna make more sense, watch this- yea go back to your life of starting arguments with people that you don't know online.

This reminds me of those guys singing with a karaoke machine to Fall Out Boy in that commercial.

EmieMarie was only giving her opinion. It was not meant as a personal attack.
EmieMarie was just giving her input and, it was some good input.
