i may be looking for a new candidate for the fall classic

christ. just when i thought everything was going so well. johnny mac was going to be facing bammy. all that bammy baggage was going to sink him. mac was going to make a sensible choice for veep and he could succeed him in 2012. now this. huck as veep? the one thing that would make me not vote for a gop ticket (short of an unequivocal apology to the glbt community for his quarantine comment).
this better not effin' be true!

one would think that mac is smart enough to realize that he doesn't need a squirrel fryer on the ticket to win the backwoods vote when he's running against an african-american. way to lose an election there, dummy.

Ugh..can you imagine how bad a Hillary/Huckabee VP debate would be?

Richardson/Huckabee would be a really highbrow discussion...Clinton/Huckabee would come across as her looking psychotic. The man's views are absolutely bat-**** crazy, but he's a hell of a debater.

It doesn't really make any sense for McCain and I don't see how a move like this would benefit him.

I don't think there is a strong GOP running mate out there for McCain that is going to definitively deliver states, but I gotta think that Romney is a better choice for him than Huckabee.

it would only make sense if he really believes - or has seen through some internal polling - that he's completely losing the socon vote, which with the entry of bab barr on the libertarian is entirely possible now.

You knew this was coming. McCain has to do something to appease the Evangelical value voters. The McCain people are running scared because Evangelicals don't show up in polling numbers because the group is very loosely defined.

Earlier today I heard some numb-nut-dit pontificating that McCain/Lieberman was the unbeatable ticket. I am not sure if this is worse or not.

lieberman on the ticket would ensure a third party run by a higher profile republican and destroy any chance the gop had of winning.

i think this is indeed more about barr than anything else. he's got enough wackos that mccain figures he needs a wacko to bring 'em back.

but barr might just siphon off enough anti-war nuts to make it a wash in the end. then mac will just have sold his soul to squirrel fryer for nothing.

i'm literally getting sick to my stomach. will one of them please dispel this rumor!

But I find it a more than a bit troubling that people think that this nation is somehow the vehicle of their faith's agenda.

The socons are sweezing the vice on McCain.

The prospect of being forced to pick up Huck and the likelihood of Barr nabbing the Libertarian nomination is a combination too good to be true.

McCain will be caught in a viscious crossfire between Ron Paul and Bob Barr both chipping away at his shaky fiscal conservative base. Huck will ratchet up the "eww" reaction.

Mac hangs out with lobbyists and elite liberals because they're the only ones who will suffer him. He grants indulgences to the former and dances atop an organ for the latter.
