...piss me off. Ok. I bought a Touch and it's really cool, but the headpones kinda annoy me. After a while the slip out of my ears and if I push them in to hard, after a while my ears start to hurt.
On each earphone, there is a letter L for Left and R for Right. I put them in like this as I figured that there must be some super important reason for the the lettering, but um, is there? I find that If I put them in opposite ears that the sound is far better, but when I put them in the right ears, I find myself turning the volume to full, only just being able to hear the music. I get bitchy when I can't hear my Feist properly.
Am I the only one with this problem?
There was a thread on this not too long ago. If you you do a search for it, you'll find lots of recommendations for which headphones to replace them with.
apparently you are the only one to spend that much on the machine and then use the cheap earphones that came with it.....I bought Schure, and love them
When I got my first iPod, it took me a while to get used to the earphones for the same reason you are having issues with them.
You can wear either one in either ear if it sounds better to you; however, the reason theyre divided is for the design of the sound on the song you're listening to.
Those earphones fall out of lots of peoples' ears. On the recommendation of a friend, I tried putting on those little spongy pads, thinking that would keep them from slipping out of my ears. I think that made it worse, because now the earphones are larger. I like the sound coming from those earphones, but I may have to buy different ones just because of the slippage factor!
Ah I just wrote a review on the Apple site on those damn earphones. They never fit properly on your ears. I constantly have to dig them into my ears and once I start moving, they start slipping off again.
The iphone socket is recessed and therefore doesn't fit all headphones. I'm stuck with these until I can find/afford a better replacement for them.
The older ipod earphones don't fall off your ears, but the overall quality is just as bad.
I love Feist.

The answer is clear: You all clearly have deformed ears!
My advice is to use to black sponge pieces because they make the plastic on your ear less harsh and help keep them from falling out.
But those sponge covers make the plastic pieces larger, as I had just mentioned. It didn't work for me, but good luck!
I've had two different iPods (which means two different sets of iPod headphones) and both times I have had to replace the headphones after a while because I hear static or some glitches. I like them but I hate that they do that when you use them for a while.
I just bought a ZUNE and was shocked at how good the earphones were that came with them. They look like the regular black pod earphones with the sponge covers but deliver wonderful sound. However, they offer other headphones that I may buy. I just like the fact that the ones that come with the ZUNE don't stand out.
I've always liked the iPod headphones, but I recently got the Bose in-ear headphones, and they're excellent. Highly recommended.

I got a Zune back in January and it came with "premium" in-ear headphones. They're absolutely fantastic.

which is exactly why they make the extender so that any earphones can be connected via that
I am not paying $19 for an extender. I shouldn't have to. They shouldn't have recessed the socket that far down. They could've easily made a universal socket. It's all about the money.
I figured out how to use my regular headphones. Two words: X-Acto Knife.

I actually have never had problems with my ipod headphones. I had the mini about 4 years ago, and for 2 and a half years I have had the video. I was impressed with both sets of headphones- I am still using the originals of the one I got 2 and a half years ago. But I know of several people who hate them. Maybe I just have the right kind of ears.
I have been looking into other kinds of headphones, though. I LOVE the Bose ones, but they are so expensive.
Wait...what is this you say about not all headphones fitting into iPods? I have never, ever had a problem with that. Is this new?
