Posted: 9/15/09 at 8:38amWhat's embarrassing is that with virtually the same team he's had for 17 years, and four months off, and billions spent in promotion, this was the best they could do to kick off the show.

Posted: 9/15/09 at 12:45pmHe's the antithesis of funny. The only slightly amusing bits he's done, Headlines and Jaywalking, he ripped-off from David Letterman and Howard Stern. His show has always been loud, forced, garish and unfunny. The new one is no exception.

"NBC's new and much-scrutinized "Jay Leno Show" turned in a better-than-expected performance on its first night, nabbing something close to 18 million viewers, according to preliminary estimates. Now the question is whether the new 10 p.m. talk show has legs..."

I'll be curious to watch how this plays out.
I watch Letterman in late night.
Not a Conan fan.

Posted: 9/15/09 at 6:09pmso basically we got Jay Leno's tonight show at 10pm.... pretty boring... my mom was really excited to see Jay Leno... then I see her watching the news and I asked her why she wasn't watching... she said it's the same thing as before... they kept saying it was going to be different but it's not... ha!

I honestly don't think they'll be filtering out anything from shows like SVU. Traditionally, the so called "Family Hour" was network programming blocks between 7 and 9 pm.
For late night comedy I have always preferred Letterman, used to like Conan until the first episode of Craig Ferguson and I never looked back. In fact, I've trashed Leno plenty of times on here.
And yet, I thought the show was funny last night. Shocked me. But I laughed.
I think it could conceivably play out very well for NBC. What will the show be up against? Dramas that are essentially serialized so that if you miss an episode you feel as if you can't follow the story line? Shows that show 3 episodes, 2 reruns and then switch time slots?
