And Andrew Lloyd Weber just plotzed.

God I hate that motion capture thing. He's obsessed with it,and I think it's stupid. It doesn't say he's going to use it for the Oz remake, but I sure hope he isn't. I guess 80+ years is a good run, without a remake.

Is this the OZ that Drew Barrymore was attached to at one point?

Drew will strap down her breasts and play Dorothy in this remake.
Those Blocked: SueStorm. N2N Nate. Good riddence to stupid! Rad-Z, shill begone!

I have a feeling it won't happen.
There's been talk of a remake for as long as I can remember...it just doesn't make any sense to do it.

I'm kind of with husk: not only a retelling of the story, but shooting from the 1939 script? That's just suicide.

I thought that story about the munchkin was a rumor?

Did they learn nothing from the awful shot for shot remake of "Psycho"?
I'm not against revisiting the material, but this is just a money grab.

I'd be much more interested in seeing the Sam Raimi helmed prequel.

Zemeckis and his performance-capturing, soulless animation can just go off a cliff. Can you imagine what the munchkins will look like? It will make Return to Oz look happy-go-lucky in comparison.
EDIT: Now it just sounds like a Zemeckis vanity project.

I don't know who they would cast because the actors in the original are so iconic.
Here's my list so far:
Jake Gyllenhaal for Tin Man
Nathan Lane for Cowardly Lion
Julie Andrews for Glinda
Michael Caine for the Wizard

I actually like the idea of Michael Caine as the Wizard.

I think they'll cast voice actors for Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, since they'll be CGI, anyway.

It won't be motion capture, thank god.

I don't think it will be CGI. I think they are going the "Psycho" route and recreating the movie exactly like the original.

Goth, I've thought Nathan L. for the lion before, as well.

I wouldn't want to be an actor following in ANY of those footsteps.

That's because he already played it in a concert version.

Yes, he did! And he was fantastic.
But if he turns it down, I think SJP would be amazing in the role...

Debra Winger was the Witch and from what I heard nobody could tell when she was acting and when she wasn't.

Danny Burstein would make a good lion. He's already channeled Bert Lahr for a role.

Ooh, also good!
Wait a minute--why am I sounding enthusiastic for this project? It's a terrible idea.
