Posted: 9/13/06 at 11:16pmdid anyone catch matt damon's f-bomb laden meltdown on the all star salute to jimmy kimmel? i tuned in just in time to see about the last 30 seconds in which damon was introduced and then told there was no more time. at which point he was cursing kimmel to the point that he grew red faced, slammed a desk and stormed out...all over the closing credits. anybody know if it was all an act? i didn't know matt damon could act...

Oprah AND Matt!!? WOW!

Posted: 9/13/06 at 11:28pmI doubt it's for real. It was probably set up to end like that. It is Jimmy Kimmel after all and I wouldn't put it past him.

Posted: 9/13/06 at 11:33pmwell, the evidently kimmel usually ends his telecast with, "and our apoligies to matt damon, we ran out of time." the rumor is that he started that when kimmel cancelled on him to do leno. matt looked pretty pissed. staged or not, i loved it.

"i didn't know matt damon could act..."
I have no idea about the Kimmel episode - or what Kimmel's show is about, to tell you the truth.
But I'd offer up GOOD WILL, HUNTING as an answer to your statement.

Have you, by any chance, seen The Talented Mr. Ripley?

Posted: 9/14/06 at 1:14amMr. Damon has a history of such frivolity - WILL AND GRACE comes to mind - so if that's the reality, bravo to him. Would that more in his situation had such perspective.

It's an ongoing joke on that show. They never have enough time to bring on their last guest: Matt Damon.
It's pretty funny that he showed up and threw a staged "hissy fit."
Go, Matt!
Oh... and he CAN act. Sometimes I wonder about the taste around here. See Ripley. See Good Will Hunting. Re-think your opinions.

And although his role in the BOURNE films is not very serious, he was wonderful in them as well.
I think he's one of our finest actors, and shows great promise for the future of younger actors in Hollywood.
And it was obviously a joke.

Good Will Hunting is one of my favorite movies.
Was Matt nominated for The Talented Mr. Ripley? Who won Best Actor that year?

Matt was nominated for Best Actor for Good Will Hunting.
And he SHOULD have been nominated (and possibly even WON) for Talented Mr. Ripley. I just watched it again about a month ago, and it's a brilliant performance. So layered and complex.
It's very rare that the Academy honors "villainous" leads. They'll give 'em Oscars in the supporting categories... but usually the leading awards go to the "noble sacrifice" characters. Someone like Hannibal Lecter is a real exception to the rule. Although, he was a villain you "liked" because he helped the heroine in such a clever way.

Matt Damon was not nominated. The nominees were:
Russel Crowe, THE INSIDER
Richard Fransworth, THE STRAIGHT STORY
Sean Penn, SWEEY AND LOWDOWN
*Kevin Spacey, AMERICAN BEAUTY
Denzel Washington, THE HURRICANE
However, Jude Law was nominated, but lost to Michael Caine.

Okey dokey.
Though I think Damon should have been nominated over, say, Penn or Washington, the award that year rightfully went to Spacey.

I saw that last night too and debated whether it was real or not for a minute, because Matt really did do a great job of being pissed. But I also know that Jimmy always ends the show like that...
too damn funny, though.

My God, Papa, you above all people should know you're not allowed an opinion that differs from the majority. :-P
I'd have liked to see Damon nominated over Russell Crowe. Then again, I hate Crowe with a blinding fury so that might have colored my opinions.

I missed what everyone is talking about. And what about Oprah?
As for Matt Damon, he's great in most things he does. I don't know if it's the script, or what, but the Bourne Trilogy is a mess. I've read the books, and none of the movies even come close.
