re: ouch!

change of plan... it's getting worse! My face is now so fat that i don't have a neck... i have a double chin and it really hurts. Looks like i wont be doing my play now because the doctor said the swelling would go down after 24 hours unless it was mumps and the swelling is just getting bigger.

re: ouch!

i've been to the emergancy doctors and it's official... i have mumps. I'm still able to do my play if i wish and i've been given another day off rehearsels and i have to let them know for sure tomorrow depending on how i feel. The scariest part is that it has been known to make men my age sterile and occasionaly can lead to menengitus... i feel really low, nothing is going well and im terrified it could develop. However on the plus side it isn't feeling like acid when i swallow so i guess that means im getting better!

re: ouch!

Maybe your eyes only seem like they're swelling because the rest of your face is going down? Things around the eyes always take the longest to heal. Anyway, keep on getting better! Are you going to do your show, or take it easy?
Well, I'm glad he got away with it.

re: ouch!

Hope you are feeling better, but I have to ask, how did you get the mumps? I thought almost everyone was vaccinated against that now.

re: ouch!

the injection didn't come in until 1988 and i was born in 1984. Besides which it doesn't protect 100% anyway. It's a virus that is spread by coughs and sneezes... you have it about three weeks before symptoms show. My eyes sweled underneath but luckily not much!

As for my play the director is being really patient, i've got to ring her tonight and let her know if i feel up to it!

>>>the injection didn't come in until 1988 and i was born in 1984.

I'm guessing your not in the US then, since I was born in 71 and had the shot. Actually had my MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) 3 times! First, as a baby. Second, because I had it before my first birthday, and school required it AFTER your first birthday. Third, right before college, because they questioned the virility of the earlier shots.

Glad to hear your director is being patient. It's hard to do all that preparation and work, and then not get to do the show. Along with the fact, it would probably be a lot less stress for the director if you are well enough to do the part, rather than quick get an understudy ready!

Feel better!

re: ouch!

thankyou... i'll do my best although i've jsut found out my mother and aunt ahve been inadvertantly trying to cause me deep vein thrombosis! I've practically been strapped to the sofa ( i hate staying in the house... too much of an active person) and i've just been on the phone with my doctor and they were like WHAT? Apparently lying down when you've got mumps in really quite dangerous.... so now im standing up to write this!

I'm from England!

re: ouch!

All the 'mum' and 'ring' bits were a clue. :)
Well, I'm glad he got away with it.
