*Just putting this out there right now- PLEASE no bashing!*
Okay, I know most people probably just remember Hanson as the teeny bopper girly-boys who sang mmmbop and were fun to make fun of. Haha. BUT, as it turns out, they're all grown up now and still making music! In fact, they have their own record label, 3CG! They're no longer sporting the long blonde hair, their voices have deepened and matured, and they are AMAZING. And not just in the "oh wow, they're suprisingly not bad!" kind of way- in the legitimately fantastic musicians kind of way. They're now indie rock, they each play multiple instruments really REALLY well, they each have wonderful, completely unique voices, and they have some of THE best harmonies of any band I've ever heard. To this day, they remain one of my favorite bands of all time :) And they're damn good looking too!
Seriously, check this out for proof:

(the first one's just a Taylor solo, but the second song is all of them- both are amazing)
Anyway, their new CD The Walk just came out the other day, and I'm trying to spread the word because I REALLY do not want this CD to fail.
here are some samples of The Walk, for you guys to listen to
-Been There Before: http://youtube.com/watch?v=FVPuFfFaz8Q
-Watch Over Me: http://youtube.com/watch?v=VnNeHZav9XE
-Fire on the Mountain: http://youtube.com/watch?v=AgOJgRj8VsE (that's ZAC! you know, the once-was-11-year-old drummer?)
-Something Going Around: http://youtube.com/watch?v=5kdgm9_S_AQ
-I've Been Down: http://youtube.com/watch?v=2gDfir3DQ8M (one of my absolute favorites. The harmonies are so incredible)

So if you like what you hear, pleeease get the cd!! It's available both on hanson.net to order and on itunes. Unfortunately, as it's an independent record and a lot of people don't know about it, it's pretty hard to find in stores, but at places like best buy and target and stuff they seem to have it in stock.
So yeah, just puttin' that out there. Also, feel free to check out their other two CDs (besides Middle of Nowhere known for mmmbop), This Time Around and Underneath. They're fantastic!
They had a song a few years ago that I really liked called, "Penny and Me," I think. They are actually quite talented. Cracks me up that they are all married, the oldest has one child and the middle one has 3.
I already have the CD and tickets to see them in September.
I've loved them since they first came around and think they've transitioned from "teens" to "adults" very well musically. Love them.
I've been a Hanson fan since 4th grade-ish (I'm getting ready for my second year in college, for perspective's sake) and I am THRILLED that they're still making music. I feel like their music has grown with me.
Represent the Hanson love :)

Their Webster Hall show sold out completely - I was shocked! I haven't seen them in years, I might go this fall if I can.
Ah, the good old days of MMMBop. Where have they gone?

weeeee *spreads Hanson love*
I'm so happy- usually when I mention Hanson people make fun of them without giving them a chance. So I love seeing people who appreciate their talent :P
and that's AWESOME that they're selling out shows! Though NOT good because I want to GO to one.. lol. I need to do some research and find out where's the closest place they're playing to where I am. I'm willing to travel hours to see them. Just have to convince my mom to go with me! (luckily it shouldn't be too hard- she's quite a Hanson fan too)
oh, by the way, you know what's really fun to do? Listen to 3 Car Garage, and then listen to The Walk. It's incredible to hear how much they've changed! Especially Zac- just LOOKING at him too, he doesn't even look like the same person!! he's always been totally adorable though <3 (aaand he happened to have inspired me to take drum lessons when I was 8- for real. And I stuck with it for 5 years too! sigh.. I need to get out my drums again and jam)

Remember the SNL with Hanson when Helen Hunt was the guest? That was priceless - a classic in my collection, hehe. The Mmmbop skit was the best, in the elevator

hee. I'm not going to lie, I could NOT believe they were boys when I first heard mmmbop. I was like "no way. That HAS to be a girl!!".
But I love hearing them do mmmbop NOW. With their now grown up voices it sounds like a totally different song! Plus they've added some killer guitar riffs and such in the beginning. That's why I love them- they're always playing around with new things and making things better

I remember in like 1997, every time my alarm radio went off in the morning, it was mmbop. I slowly grew to hate that song until I listened to it, and the whole cd and realized what great music it really was. If you could get past the initial shreaking.
I haven't really been a "fan" of theirs in years. But it's nice to know they're still making music
I turned 13 the year they came out, and I can honestly say that I never once had the "oh they're like girls" thought because my first exposure to them was because I was attending a taping of the Rosie O'Donnell Show, and they were the guests. It was the week before 'Middle of Nowhere' was released and I had no idea who they were. Seeing them in person as a first exposure to them was fantastic though.

that's amazing! I wish I could have seen them live before they were really well known.
I really think that people who see them live really start to realize just how good they are. Listening to the cd, it was so easy to just go "oh they're just another boy band but they're too young and girly to be one", but then you see them live, and you see that they ARE in fact playing their own instruments and they ARE in fact singing with no synthesizers. And they've been doing it since they were like.. 6, 9, and 11 years old! By 11, 14 and 16 years old they were already REALLY good at it! Even then, they didn't just play simple stuff. They switched it up and improvised and showed that they were true musicians.
oh and also... to hear them do a capella stuff live is like the most incredible thing ever. They have some of the most perfect harmonies I have EVER heard
oh and by the way, everyone needs to listen to this

I love that MMM Bop song. It makes me feel happy, OK? Hanson was always cute. Back then their music was called "bubble-gum pop". But so what!

speaking of cute

They were SO adorable!! Even at 11, Tay really knew how to work the crowd <3. And they really were/are freakishly talented. To be able to do 3 part harmonies like that at 8, 11, and 13 years old!? Just the fact that they all had such good voices is incredible. And not only could they do them- they WROTE that song. Granted it's kind of silly in a cute way because there they are little boys singing about girls hehe, but still. My friend and I used to try and write songs when we were 8- they weren't anywhere NEAR that good haha. And my friend was a pretty darn decent song writer for an 8 year old!
oh and the dance moves *giggles* so adorable. I am glad though that they ditched the moves for instruments later on :P

Damn right you love me, and I bet you knew this thread called my name too. I'm not used to your avatar not being bordering on perverted.
One of my friends is really close with them. She tells me stories all the time.

I would change it to something obscene, bythesword, but there's the whole pesky little issue of the upload page "not existing"

Why has there been no mention of "Great Divide"?

How much can one person ramble in one thread?
I can't help it- when talking about things I love I ramble
and yes, Great Divide is awesome!! my only problem with that particular song is that the way it's recorded makes it very hard to understand parts. Plus, Tay, as much as I adore him and his voice, does sometimes have a tendency to pronounce things strangely or not annunciate well, so it doesn't help matters. But I still love it- such an awesome sound and a really important message!
oh and um... I take issue with Tay's new facial hair. He's too pretty for it. It's not BAD, I mean he still looks really good, but it just doesn't fit him that well. I prefer his look from the time of promotion for Underneath- longish hair (above shoulder length but not short and no facial hair. Not that it really matters, but.. you know.. just saying. He looks gorgeous that way :P

dont wanna loose this thread
Love those boys
My friend and I were the token Hanson lovers, and as we grew up, we took pride in our love for them, and about once a year would just scream out Man From Milwaukee in the middle of the street.
Also love the "This Time Around" CD. It really offers a different mix to Middle of Nowhere, but both are great.
And I still love Weird, the song that made me fall in love with them. (My friend sent me a link to the song when MMMBop was first starting to play, she loved them immediately)
I stopped liking them around the time they started charging people to visit their website. Fans buying their CDs and other merchandise wasn't enough; they had to make their underage fans find credit cards and buy membership just to learn the most basic info about their upcoming plans. Even at the age of 14, that didn't sit right with me.
Oh, Lord was I obsessed with them back when they were popular. I was trying to forget those years....haha.
