I was thinking of singing La Vie Boheme to my sister who does know rent and hates it because i like it. it will be hard to explain the verses. LOL

that's exactly the same thing with me and my older brother. i'm not sure how to explain the verses in a clear way though. i sang some of it to my friends and they really liked it but that's different.

I'm not a gay stereotype. I'm a coincidence.

I had my friend listen to La Vie Boheme A&B and she didn't get it. This is of course the same friend who was saying the lyrics and asked what a dildo was and of course my bf just HAD to explain it to her. So I think even though I explained it to her she still doesn't get it. Also trying to explain Today 4 U was very interesting. She doesn't like the idea of someone killing a dog.

or the thing that irks me is when "seasons of love" and "take me or leave me" are the only rent songs that a person knows. it's like: c'mon. you haven't heard rent until you've heard "glory." in my humble opinion.

I had one line of LVB stuck in my head for days, so I kept singing "To huevos rancheros and Maya Angelou" over and over again and was driving my sister insane. I had her listen to it and she laughed at homo sapiens then, at the end, asked "What the hell was that? Sisters, brothers- I don't get it!"

Of course, she also saw the show for the first time last weekend, turned to me during the intermission and said "Oh, Angel's a GUY!" *facepalm*

see, with RENT you must recognize your audience and plan ahead. I told my mom that Angel was a guy prior to the show starting because I KNEW if I didn't she would have done the same thing.

The worst part was that I KNOW I had mentioned that there was a drag queen in it. She did mention that it occured to her because he had really nice arms, and girls can't get nicely defined muscle like that.

My mother saw it and her only reaction was when was worried about Mimi falling off the fire escape.

Contact is the song that really scares of the most people... for me anyways.

Contact kind of confused my mom. my friends aren't neccesserily pissed whenever i sing songs from Rent, it's just that they don't get it sometimes but they do dance to the beat i give.

i remember that in one of my classes, everyone got bored so we did our own American Idol recreation. everyone was scared to go so i finally went and sang Glory. i got a lot cheers from my class and they asked what was that from so i spent the rest of the class explaining what Rent was and people told me that they would buy the CD so i think i did the world good by bringing in new rentheads though it was tough since no one new what Rent was.

I'm not a gay stereotype. I'm a coincidence.
