re: scariest movie youve ever seen

You know, every scary movie scares me if I'm watching it all by myself at home. If I'm with someone else, it's hard to scare me. But The Exorcist scared me. The Ring scared me only in one part. Pet Sematary has always scared me just with the part of Zelda, the sister that has spinal meningitis that they show in a flashback. Ever since I was young, I cannot watch the part with her. I think she is actually played by a guy though.

I agree with you on Zelda - I think that was a guy. I've always thought that. I love that movie just for the amazing performance of 2 year old Miko Hughes.

In PET SEMETARY when Miko says "Daddy.......I want to play with you" and he does that freaky laugh, I feel like crapping my fruit of the looms.......it freaks me out so much

Yes, it's such a bad movie, but such a disturbing movie. The part where the little boy gets Fred Gwynne made me sad. He was Herman Munster!

Another one is if you've ever seen IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS and you see the white haired guy on the bike. Now DAMN, that scared me.

Also in THE GIFT with Cate Blanchett, the scene with the fiddle player actually made me toss my popcorn in the air. Got it all over myself.

I have heard of some movie that's maybe from the 70's that is supposed to be really scary, but I don't know the name, and I don't know if I'd want to see it because it looks really freaky. Maybe The House on the Corner or something like that.

Auggie I forgot about "Don't Look Now." "Spoiler" The little drowned daughter he keeps thinking he sees in the yellow slicker. He finally encounters the little girl and she cannot run away and she turns around and it's a female dwarf with a knife and she slits Donald Sutherland's throat. He lies dying seeing his life pass before his eyes. That was one scary movie and Venice never looked so eerie. An excellent movie, I might add.

I thought it was a red slicker? Either way, it's very disturbing.

And Eponine79, you're not thinking of Last House On The Left, are you?

I also found Candyman to be terrifying.

CANDYMAN scared the piss out of me.

And GIGLI was not a bad movie. The script could have been stronger, but Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, Christopher Walken, Al Pacino and Lanie Kazaan all gave good performances and made the most out of what they had to work with. This was a film that people wanted to hate (a la DRACULA) and the reviews all said the same thing, and some of the reviewers admited to not even having seen it when writing their reviews.

Gigli was nowhere near as bad as the reviews made it out to be, but it still wasn't any good. The idea was bad, the script was shocking, and I felt bad for most of the cast for being in it. Martin Brest had pictures of them all in compromising positions with animals or small children, I decided. It's the only explanation for packing so much talent into such appalling dreck.

re: scariest movie youve ever seen

OK- here's what I'll always remember. In 8th grade English my teacher (in 1986, mind you) showed the movie "The Testament"- all about a town after a nuclear war. Kids were getting radiation poisoning and dying. They were burying kids in dresser drawers and burning piles of bodies once they ran out of space for burials in the cemeteries. Our teacher told us that she wanted us to write on the effects of the threat of nuclear war and this movie would help us consider the ramifications. WHATEVER! Scared me absolutely to death. TO this day, I wouldn't watch that movie again. It was so creepy. My best friend and I still talk about that horrible experience, even though it was 18 years ago!! Anyone else out there seen it? Would make me feel better to know someone else besides us thought it was the creepiest thing ever!!

eponine79........are you talking about LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT? if so, it was written and directed by Wes Craven in the 70's and it is scary in the fact it looks like a real documentary. I mean, realistic gore and death scenes. The movie that made me REALLY uneasy was FINAL DESTINATION 2. The death scenes made me nauseas. I will NEVER ride behind a log truck ever again

Stephen King's Carrie.... just for the end really! THAT HAND *shiver*!!!

It's been a long time but I also remember how scary Poltergeist was when it first came out... well, for me anyway.

I felt the same way watching Pet Cemetary, Spidey! Mainly because the little kid kinda looks like my brother when he was younger. I was up all night after that.
