RUMOR IS...
The reason Rove stepped down today is that yesterday the case Pat Fitzgerald was prosecuting in Chicago ended in the conviction of former governor of Illinois Republican George Ryan on 18 counts of corruption.
With that investigation over, Fitzgerlad turns his full attention to the Plame case, IN WHICH ROVE IS STILL A "SUBJECT."
The grand jury met this morning, and Rove "resigned."
