Things are pretty bad here in the DC area. The plows and utility crews are starting to get pulled off the roads because of the dangerous whiteout conditions. Up in Baltimore, they have officially banned all non-emergency vehicles from the roads.

Here in Manhattan, an ominous looking sky and it stopped snowing momentarily as of 11:45, but we're hearing it's just the "eye of the storm" and the big stuff is coming this afternoon.

"Bryan Jackson of the National Weather Service said as of 7 a.m. Wednesday, 5.2 inches of snow had fallen since Tuesday at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. That brings the total snowfall since December to 65.6 inches and is the most since record-keeping began in Baltimore in 1893. The previous record, from 1995-96, was 62.5 inches."

I'm close to the Jersey shore. (No, I am not Snooki.) It's raining here now which is just going to make this NASTY. It's going to freeze and be horrible!

Apparently here it was ice under the snow. I'm really surprised my dad went to do his volunteer hours at the hospital today. Even some departments are closed there today. Probably to have enough people for emergencies.

It's still coming down like an SOB here in Stamford. Since I got up at 9:30am, the plow has only come by once, which is pretty much unheard of.

I'm near Harrisburg, PA. The wind is kicking up, causing white-out conditions. The state is pretty much shutting down. The Governor has just closed the major roadways. This storm is pretty incredible. I love the snow!

They just revised the expected snowfall from "10 to 20" inches up to "20 to 30" inches.

With showdrifts, 3 to 6 feet.

They are saying the blizzard part of this is supposed to hit us in 2-3 hours. This is current. It snowed, then rained, then iced and now it's snowing again.









I am a little worried. lol

Anyone want to go sledding? I live a quarter of a mile up a hill, and there is one in the backyard as well. I'm debating walking to the top of the driveway hill to see what my street is like, but that might be too far to walk.

I went to shovel a new path for my dog because I hadn't done it in a few hours. I went out, started shoveling and thought, "hmmm....this isn't too bad." Then I came in and told my dad and he said "well, I just re-shoveled her path 45 minutes ago."
I then went to brush the snow off the hot water heater. Well, that was quite a surprise! It's all the way on the far side of the house and I trudged through thigh high snow. Brrrrr....

I could have gotten in but would have stayed 2 or 3 hours calling & getting no one in only to have a hell on earth getting home . Add to that, my boss bites it so I said why bother.

I check about an hour and a half ago, and there was about a foot of snow out there, and it is still coming down.
