Yes I do sometimes act 14, C_O, but I only act 7 (and a half) in the bedroom.
However, somebody at 14 is old enough to know that the whole world is not a sanitary suburb. But given that it makes Liam uncufterbul*, I guess he's a very very very very young 14.

Gee, Namo...are they still in business? Good vids.
These days subways are great places to see those buinessmen and messengers who don't wear underwear. Thank goodness for sheer summer knits!

Liam, you are not the only one that feels this way. I have seen many people board the train, see a homeless person sleeping on the train, and move to another car.
It is understandable that you would feel uncomfortable in this environment.

Posted: 7/14/05 at 8:51pmYes, there are things in the city that make people feel uncomfortable, but you have to realize that they are part of city life. A nine year old boy should realize that. There is more to life than the white picket fences in an affluent Connecticut suburb.

Posted: 7/14/05 at 9:21pmThe subway is great. And yes, homeless people can be scary at times, but not everyone has the great privilege of being able to choose where they live, where they sleep, what they eat, etc. Of course, the subway could be cleaner, but it is far from the atrocity as you describe it as.

Subways are filthy because people are filthy - garbage does not get there by itself
Having said that, the TA does nothing to clean the stations. The workers - I use that term loosely - ( to get their jollies ) do not turn on working escaltors or refuse to repair ones that alledgedly do not work. The workers (ha ha) standing on the platform @ Main St Flushing stand there bull****ting, reading papers, playing video games - anything but work guys. They waste gasoline by the ton with buses idling for 10 or 15 minutes. Many buses go to that all time destination - no passengers. The waste @ the TA is monumental . They than retire @ 20 years @ half pay, free rides for life & even after retirement we pay their medical . I am surprised the fare is only $ 2
Other than that, I have no rpoblem with the subways

Posted: 7/14/05 at 9:35pmConnecticut is not immune to homelessness and poverty. Ok, maybe Litchfield and Fairfield Counties are very affluent. I live in Hartford and there is a great deal of poverty here. And the snooty people in affluent West HartFord just down the road won't even set foot in HArtford.

The same people who turn away from the homeless think nothing of paying $ 4 for their daily Starbucks Latte
Having said that, people lying all over seats or public urinating or cursing is something else. They have rights but so do I. I have the right to not be assualted physically & my senses being hit with this

Posted: 7/14/05 at 9:49pmMr. Roxy, I agree with you. I was interviewed a few years ago by my local Jewish /Newsletter in response to something I read in there about the fact that there are no Jewish poor or homeless in CT. I had been living in homeless shelters for quite some time. Did I give them hell!

Quick, Yenta! Name three non-Jewish things you did this year!
Roxy, gas is not measured in tons.

I agree with you Eliza.
Did you know that one anagram for Thenardier is "RETARD HE IN." I don't know if that's disrespectful or not but it's sure meant to be.

Well, Namo, I guess you are too clever for me (I mean, did Hugo really intend for "Retard he in")....

Posted: 7/15/05 at 1:24amI do love Thenardier, however. we share a common love of Latricia that can not be discarded...even through a disagreement on the New York City subway system.
