haha..jasper and vidor....both cities within two hours of my hometown...it's amazing to drive from my city to those....the air changes...it's disgusting. the people are horrific.

Well, New York is a verey large city, and therefore mathemiatically there are going to be a lot of jerks. I mean, the proportion of jerks to normal, nice people is probably the same as other places, but becuase there are so many people in New York, it might seem like there are more. Does that make sense?

That's not a New York thing, that's an a-hole thing. Unfortunately they're everywhere.
I'm not a native New Yorker, so take this with a grain of salt if you prefer. I've only been in NYC once, this last summer for a week with my sister. I spent a considerable amount of time in Midtown by myself and was pleasantly surprised. I went there somewhat expecting to encounter a number of those stereotypical residents that we always seem to hear about.
Overall, everyone I talked to was fine and I didn't have any problems to speak of. Most of those in NYC are just normal people going about their lives like anywhere else. I felt stupid for ever thinking otherwise.

Anyway, I'm sorry that had to happen to you Jane! What a tool. I can't understand how anyone can be so horrible. I'm glad you found a much kinder soul soon after.

Maybe if I weren't still recovering from falling down a few steps and gathering my belongings together, I would have done that. Believe me, I can give it out pretty well if pushed far enough. This one floored me though ( pun intended).

Actually, I AM sorry that happened to you. I just got back to LA and am driving for the first time in a while. I've noticed the roads here are filled with the same type of attitude, except they are behind the wheel of a car. Everyone has this GET-OUT-OF-MY-WAY attitude. I'm glad the show I was working on has closed so I don't have to drive that far.

MLE,I agree. I hate it when people say that New Yorkers are all mean and nasty. I mean, I'll be talking to people and the city will come up in conversation and they'll say, "I don';t like that place, everyone's mean down there!" And in most cases, the person hasn't even been there before! they just stereotype NYC based on movies and other people's opinions. Sure, I've met m,y share of nasty people down there, but I live in Syracuse and let me tell you, this city is just FULL of nasty people. I think I've bumped into more rude people up here then I ever have in NY or on Long Island combined, and I'm there a lot!
