But I thought the Christian right wingers were looking forward to the Rapture!
Sorry, pops. The right does not do humor well at all. The Dole campaign was never this desperate.

You know what is really funny - the more they run crap ads like this, the stronger my support for Obama becomes.
It is a silly ad.

i laughed. hard. and i have a pretty good sense of humor.
you keep saying desperate, but i see a guy who just weathered a week of the god-like adulation of his opponent and is now tied in two major tracking polls. i think the ones who ought to be worried are the ones on the other side. y'know the ones who don't have the quadruple albatross of a president in the low 20's approval-wise and two not-so-popular wars and an economy just starting to right itself and a party tainted with corruption scandals hanging around their neck and still can't manage to pull a decent lead? over a 90 year-old man who still talks about czechoslovakia as if it exists? that would worry me if i were them.
me? i'm pretty freakin' happy where we are and i bet mac is too.

ywiw, gimme a break. you're the one who thinks that his time as a pow disqualifies him from ever being president or even being near sharp objects. he could be running against stalin's re-animated corpse who was proposing to slaughter everyone who doesn't vote for him and you'd be saying, "those damn mccain ads just show how right i am in voting for uncle joe. he's a much safer pic than that former pow! you can't just can't trust them military guys."

I'm a Democrat, but even I have to admit that at some points Obama and his more ardent followers have exulted him to the point of God-like status.
As Jon Stewart put it last week in reference to his overseas tour, "Then he went to Jerusalem to visit the manger in which he was born."

Papa while a bit of an overstatement, most of what you said has a good amount of truth to it.
I do question whether anyone who survived over 5 years of mental and physical torture as a POW should be the President of the United States. It just creates doubts in my mind. Especially with the escalating nature of flip-flops, forgetfulness, and just dumb mistakes. His gaffes have become persistent and repeated, and makes me wonder what is going on.
The sad thing is that I liked the McCain of 2000, and if I had confidence that McCain of today was the same as I saw in 2000, I would give him serious consideration. I don't recognize this version. Whether it is because he is playing to his base, or some other reason, it makes me very nervous.
From a Hillary supporter who backed Obama with some reluctance.

I think Barack can just add "Yes we can" (which obviously means 'Yes I am' anyway) to the end of that and it would be a great commercial for him.

That's the funniest statement in this thread...

Is it over yet?
The thought that anyone still differentiates between these . . . 'men', indicates that they aren't really paying attention.
I'm just miffed that this whole process is what takes up the news. Are EITHER of these idiots doing the job they were 'elected' to do? Of course not. So much for the electoral process - or this system, as far as that goes.
I'm just sick of hearing the drum-beats of something that is supposed to represent different sides. No matter WHAT happens, they're going to have to try and continue to fund their priveleged existence - and the money has run out.
Not in a recession? Only by technical terminology - and ideology supported only by those who want to hang on tooth-and-nail.
Kind of like religion. But that's a seperate topic. Or is it.
