We SHALL overcome.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmR1YvfIGng

We shall overcome, we shall overcome,
We shall overcome someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall overcome someday.

The Lord will see us through, The Lord will see us through,
The Lord will see us through someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall overcome someday.

We're on to victory, We're on to victory,
We're on to victory someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We're on to victory someday.

We'll walk hand in hand, we'll walk hand in hand,
We'll walk hand in hand someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We'll walk hand in hand someday.

We are not afraid, we are not afraid,
We are not afraid today;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We are not afraid today.

The truth shall set us free , the truth shall set us free,
The truth shall set us free someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
The truth shall set us free someday.

We shall live in peace, we shall live in peace,
We shall live in peace someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall live in peace someday.

Peej, are we allowed to compare the gay struggle to the struggle of other minorities or not? Because I was wondering whether I could cleverly rewrite the lyrics to "Follow the Drinkin' Gourd".

I'm already ill waiting to hear all the gloating from the bible thumpers.
And the GOP will take this as an affirmation that courting the right is indeed the way to go.

If they had invalidated the 18,000 marriages already on the books, Ellen DeGeneres' marriage to Portia de Rossi would have been among them. Imagine the impact that would have had (and not just among "those gay people"). As it is, I'm sure she'll make some comment on it.

I'm pretty sure it's still racist to appropriate songs from other civil rights struggles. At least on BWW.

True, KEVVY, I was just making an emotional general statement re people and institutions that choose to live in the past. Yes, I am an unadultered "progressive". Actually I enjoy PAPA, not for his politics, but for his creative writing/snarkiness. Wish *I* could be so clever!
