transition update

on thursday, i'm having the first surgery that is part of my transition. hysterectomy... they're also taking out my appendix since they're "in the area" and it will get rid of the chance it could become infected, which would be very dangerous if it happened while i was recovering from the hysterectomy.

i'm excited and nervous... but mostly excited =]

i'll be fully recovered from it with some time to spare before school starts =]

Congratulations, Paxton. I am sure the process will not be easy, but you have so much support! Take things very easy, and let your family and friends wait on you hand and foot. Good luck and check in when you feel like it, but you must know we will all be thinking of you and your incredible journey.

i'm hoping to have my netbook with me a few days after the surgery, and i will definatly post an update here.
i know i dont post a lot, but BWW is my home. you guys are the first people i came out to after my family. the support everyone has given me right from the start a little over a year ago means the world to me.

You know I kid. I am praying for you and very proud of you for such determination. I am all nervous about the probability of having my gall bladder removed in a few weeks. You're getting all the plumbing rewired! You're the man.

gettin a little more nervose. this is what tomorrow is going to look like:
leave for the hospital at 7am and have a PICC line (a type of IV) placed at 8am. this should not take more than 30 minutes. then i go up to the pre-op floor and my surgery is at 12:15... i'm bringing my portable DVD player and some funny movies to watch while i'm waiting.
at noon i'll be brought down to the OR so they can get everything ready...
then after i wake up, they're bring me back to the PACU (recovery area) and after i'm there for a bit and they're confident i'm not going to die or something, i'll be transfered up to the surgical recovery floor.

i have a few things that are making me feel a little better... someone made me a scooby doo hospital gown so i could wear something that was my own instead of the boring blue gowns they have in the hospital after my surgery is over... i'm also bringing my little Buddha in the OR with me. they always let me bring him in... they wrap him in sterile gauze and then wrap him into my hand so i dont drop him when i'm asleep.
i picked out which song i want to listen to in the OR as i'm going to sleep. they let you listen to your headphones untill you fall asleep. i decided on "American Baby" by dave matthews band.
i'm also bringing my hurley cap so i'll feel like someone special to me is with me and a picture of my cat.

lol yeah i dont plan on doing that namo
i'm almost embarassed to admit this, but recovery from surgery usually means the nurses trying to avoid my unintentional punches while they're trying to put medicines in my IV. i remember none of this but i'm assured it always happens x_X
