I would add that there are two steps to ignoring them: first, ignore any threads they begin and second, don't allow them to threadjack. First part is relatively easy, but it can be difficult to get a thread back on track after it's been trolled.

Don't feed the trolls. Don't allow them to threadjack by ignoring their posts. They get bored and go off to die under a bridge somewhere.

that also means ignoring the posts of people who have chosen to engage the trolls and that's tough sometimes, but it has to be done.
