Well there is more being done to get the message out to teens these days. When I was 15 and started smoking that wasn't the case.

I guess now's a bad time to express my love for the fact that I can smoke in restaurants and clubs here in Moscow. Mr. Parker and I will just continue to sit in the corner then with our Marlboros and Benson & Hedges.

What about if an actor has to smoke onstage as part of their character? Do they use real cigarettes? ive wondered about that. =D

Daisy, I stocked up on $20 cartons of Benson & Hedges at the duty-free in my airport, I think I died and went to heaven.

I mean.... don't smoke.... it's bad.... or at least Mayor Bloomberg says so.

Fun fact of the day, however, Enrico Caruso smoked three packs a day.

who smoles

My mother has been smoking since she was about 12 and she's 85 now. She is one of the lucky ones as she has never had any smoking related problems.

My father was also a smoker but passed away of lung cancer in his early 60's.

I have never had a cig to my mouth, despite or maybe because of my parents. I can't say how much 2nd hand smoke I have breathed in over the years.

That's what makes me mad. If you want to smoke. It's your body. Your choice. But your right smoke ends where my right to clean air begins. My body. My choice.

re: who smoles

I frankly can't stand people who smoke around other people. If they smoke when no one is around, I don't mind. But a bunch of people die from second-hand smoke. I personally think that smoking should be banned in clubs or restaurants or around other people in general. Maybe it's because cigarette smoke makes me naucious... I don't know.

So you do not get second hand smoke but go outside & breathe in all the exhaust fumes from cars & buses. Do we ban them next ? It is a bit much that if you are in an open air stadium you cannot smoke in the upper deck because some one in the field boxes may smell it. Give me a break

Honestly Mr. R, they are working on the car/truck fumes–hybrid cars for example--but you can’t do anything with cig smoke.

Perhaps they could come up with a muffler for smokers?

Cigar smokers, in particular! Big, HUGE, enormous mufflers. That muffle. And muzzle!

re: re: who smoles

who "smoles?"

i for one have to add my two cents here and just clarify that anyone who is caught burning smoles in polite company should be persecuted to the fullest extent by the closest militia before being dragged out of their homes in the middle of the night and helicoptered off to face a eco-environmental junta's judgement. smoles are gentle quiet creatures who want no more than to dig their holes and eat the odd carrot now and again. anyone who would sink to such a bestial level by lighting up one of these curious little furballs is beyond reproach.

that said, i must now return to my regularly scheduled inebriation. this moment has been brought to you by the letter "w" and the number "7."

Smokers

I smoked for many years and eventually quit after many attempts. I'm sympathetic towards anyone with an addiction. However, given how extensively informed we are about this "hard to break" habit, I'm surprised at how many colleagues/performers smoke. It's a powerful observation at how addicting it really is. It's a strange feeling watching a singer hide their cigarette from you. It's an even stranger feeling when they don't hide it.
