It's all about the turnout.

Because the media needs suspense, they're saying voter turnout is heavy, which generally has meant a lot of people voting Democrat in Massachusetts (which is how you spell that, there's no "e" before the last "s" like one of Martha Coakley's ads had).
But Martha's camplosion may change that forever more.

The people of Massachusetts have sent a message to Washington. Listen to the people you are supposed to serve and represent. Don't ram through legislation that people don't want, ignoring their wants and needs.
I wish Brown much success in Washington.

LOL. They already have the legislation. They just want to prevent the rest of the country from having it.

I am hoping that this election makes all elected officials take a long look in the mirror.
The GOP candidate ran a better race, and in this race, deserved to win.

Since it's all going to be in my mind anyway, it doesn't matter.
That's why John Pruitt is still my favorite, all these years later.

How, how, how in a year when the Republican Party is in disarray--with the dissolution of Nixon and Reagan's unholy alliance between the GOP and the Religious Right--how, how, how did the Democrats f*ck this up?
When the Republican have a little power, they act like they have a mandate. When the Democrats have a lot of power, they act like they have none.
When the Republicans are in power, the media talks about "Democratic obstructionism." When they Democrats are in power, they call it "partisan gridlock."
Why is it always the Democrats' fault?
Drudge is now asking if Scott Brown will run for president against Obama.

pj, you know that this democratic supermajority was built on dems from red or reddish states and as such was never going to be the kind of majority that would tackle thorny issues that might endanger them come re-election time.
hate bush all you want, but he didn't give a flying fig about re-elections or making anyone happy. he had a set of principles - right or wrong and variable as they were - and governed to them come hell or high water. unfortunately or furtunately, the gop got drunk on power and you saw the result in 2006, a depressed base and a public sick of the party in power. they strayed from their base.
obama dosn't seem to have a single principle that he would fight for. and has handed governance over to congress to a large part and now he's going to be hard pressed to get that power back.
had he come in and demanded a public option or even gone for singler payer and just that he would have energized his base. sure they might have lost seats anyway, but instead he came in, handed the keys to pelosi and reid and stayed above it all setting arbitrary deadlines which when they are blown off make him look even weaker. if he when things started to get bogged down he had waded in and said, "look, we are not going to solve everything with one bill, so here's what we are going to do: we're creating this system only. we can make more changes down the road if and when we need to, but this is what we are going to do." he would have gotten the same amount of grief he has already gotten, but he would have had a base ready to kill for him. as it is, they are sniping at him as much as the gop is.
and with good reason.
his inability to demonstrate what he is for in any even remotely consisten manner and his fiddling as senator after senator was bought off and deals were made with the insuarance industry with the drug companies and with the unions make him seem like nothing more than a figurehead tut tutting as vandals loot the national archives. he lost the independents because no one can count on him for anything. at all. and he's not charismatic enough to gloss it over. sure people still like him as a person, but what good is it that they still like him if they are abandoning his party?
mass is not so much about health-care or any specific issue as it is about the democrats seeming to have no real direction. we're for a public option. until we're not. we're for change, unless it's too hard. we're for hope. yeah, as my daddy said, hope in one hand and sh*t in the other. see which one gets full first.

Papa I agree with everything you said in your post.
The Democrats deserved to loose this election. They have proven themselves incapable of leadership.
