Well of course Rose's Turn.
I'm in a staged reading of FIDDLER right now and for the first time in my life, I have the 11:00 number - it's very exciting!

Most of the really good ones are in there.
My personal favorite is 'Cabaret'.

Back to Before (ragtime)
Rose's Turn (gypsy)
Lot's Wife (Caroline)
Being Alive (Company)
I will never leave you (sideshow)
Move On (sunday in the park with george)
How Glory Goes (floyd collins)
and the list goes on...

Posted: 12/9/04 at 4:48pmIs If You Could See her, I don't care much, or Cabaret the 11 o'clock #. I would say Cabaret - but that is to me the finale. everything else is just plot points (in the revival)

This is like the 4th time I've seen a thread about this, and everytime people just start naming random songs from shows they like. I think someone should give a definition of an 11 o'clock number before this thread goes any further.
I see it as a song that is towards the end of a show(back in the old days when shows started at 8:30, it would be sung at around 11 oclock)and it is a song that has a lot of emotion to it. I'm sure someone can give a better definition than that though. Also keep in mind that not every show has an 11 o'clock number in it.
Top two for me would be Rose's Turn and Lot's Wife from Caroline or Change.

I've usually fallen asleep by 11, but I have been awakened by:
What I Did For Love from A Chorus Line
Bring Him Home from Les Miz

BHH woke you up?
Really?
re: 11 o'clock numbers#14
Posted: 12/9/04 at 7:44pmIs Bring Him Home an 11 o'clock number? It happens fairly early in the second act. I see why you think it would be, but I dont think Les Mis has one.
