Chitty Chitty Bang Bang; Dirty Rotten Scoundrals; Sweet Charity; All Shook Up; La Cage Aux Folles; Little Women and Spamalot are just a few of the upcoming Broadway shows/revivals. Which shows do you think will end up being hits and possible Tony winners, and which do you think will end up being another Never Gonna Dance (the surprise flop of THIS broadway season) and Dance Of The Vampires (the surprise flop of the LAST Broadway season) I'd be interested to know.

I have high hopes for Dirty Rotten Scoundrals, all shook up, little women, and spamalot. But i cant say which one will be a winner because i dont know a lot about each production....too early to tell.

While I agree that it's too early to tell, I'm not all together convinced that All Shook up or Little Woman will be big, long running "hits". Yes, even with Sutton starring, LW is a BORING story. As for ASU, sounds a bit trite and the friends that saw it at Goodspeed were not blown away. I have higher hopes for Dirty Rotten... Broadway needs some comedy and I miss Sheri Scott on the boards.

Spamalot will be the next PRODUCERS.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

"Yes, even with Sutton starring, LW is a BORING story." That's very true, I don't think it will be a long-running show, but it looks like its going to be a very good musical.

I think that the number one musical coming out next season is 'Hitler: the musical' It's about two three year olds that ride carnival merry-go-rounds. The biggest flop, however, I fear will be 'Little Women'. The 'dance-musical' is IN nowadays, so 'All Shook up' should fair pretty well. And 'Little Women' just strikes me as the kind of musical that will have the score and feeling of 'Jane Eyre' or 'Dance Of The Vampires'. NOT A GOOD SIGN! My predictions for the revivals go as follows: I think 'Sweet Charity' will pull in the strongest, only because it has had SO MANY problems coming to broadway the last 4 years that (hopefully the team will realize) it will need to be REALLY special. 'La Cage' will be a better, more fun show to watch, but will slowly fade out. Just some predictions.

I did hear that All Shook Up is going through quite a bit of re-writing. The cast is also getting larger. Not that that has anything to do with anything. Except that you need a large cast to fill the Palace stage. Just like you need a large audience to fill the Palace seats. And despite really enjoying myself at that production, I can't say it's a given that that will happen.

I have a lot of hope for Brooklyn. From what I've seen via demo tapes, I really enjoy the music, and the cast is terrific. I'm not sure how they're going to be able to sing it eight times a week (and not sure they're going to, given the understudies) but I think it's going to be an experience.

Little Women is boring, I agree with that, and I'm not sure even Sutton will give it what it needs. Meanwhile, La Cage, Rotten Scoundrels and Spamelot have the recognizable names and talent that will probably given them a few good solid months at least.

Only time will tell!

I think Little Women will be good but not a hit. I think Spamelot will be a huge hit.

Like I said, Broadway could use a few doses of comedy. People want to laugh.

I have very high hopes for Little Women. But that's where it ends. Hopes. I don't know many males who will care to see it, as Little Women most certainly appeals to women. I think Spamalot will do well. I would like to see La Cage do well, but who knows? I think Chitty will do really well because it attracts the younger children. And Sweet Charity, providing it's done really well (Is Christina Applegate still attached, because that makes me think it's not being done well) will do wonderfully.

shira, Christina Applegate, unlike many TV actors on B'way before her, is actually a proven singer and dancer.

Aren't The Wiz and West Side Story revivals slated to open this season?

I agree with CapnHook, I think "Spamalot" will be another show like "The Producers". It has a good (if not recognizable) cast, and it's a comedy, and all those Monty Python fans could prove to be a good audience for the show.

I also think "All Shook Up" will be a hit. Look at shows like "Mamma Mia" and "Movin' Out". I think "ASU" will be a tourist attraction, even if the crtics don't necessarily like it.

I'm still on the fence about "Brooklyn" and "Little Women". I think because "LW" is a very famous story where so many people know it, it has been adapted into numerous movies. I'm not sure how many people will flock to see it once again, even if it is the first time it's on Broadway as a musical. As for "Brooklyn", which as a pop-ish/R&B score (correct me if I'm wrong), it could be a big draw for the younger audience (i.e. "Rent"). It could also flop miserably because of comparisons people may make to shows such as "Rent".

As for "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels"...I think at first it could be a big hit for the familiar names in the cast but once they end their run, I doubt the show will remain running.

The revivals, well, we'll have to wait and see. I'm not sure how many people will be willing to see "La Cage Aux Falles" or "Sweet Charity" (I'm not sure Christina Applegate is that big of a name to pull in millions. She's not exactly Hugh Jackman.)

That's just what I think. I could be wrong. We'll have to wait and see.

I think The Wiz will be like Fiddler and have a short run. IMO La Cage,Little Women and Broolyn will flop.

I heard that The Pajama Game is gonna be coming to Broadway... that probably won't last long... it's a horrible script.
