I've also been anticipating the musical revivals as what may bring the real excitement to next season.
There was some buzz in the UK that Cameron Mackintosh has been enticing KEIRA KNIGHTLEY to play Eliza Doolittle - not sure whether this will be for a Broadway revival or a movie remake. And Keira sounded very enthusiastic about the possibility.
Not sure if she can sing, but she has the charm and the acting chops.

Well, the COMPANY revival is happening next season, so perhaps we'll get the SUNDAY production from London the season after that and maybe A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC the season after that. I doubt we'll have more than one Sondheim revival on Broadway at once.
But the good news is - by the time ALNM opens, Glenn Close will be the right age for Madame Armfeldt!

I wonder if Anika Noni Rose would be available if a revival of THE WIZ becomes a reality for Broadway. She'd be a great selling point.
Also, if a PIPPIN revival does happens sometime soon, I am just waiting to see Elaine Stritch cast as Berthe and snag the Tony for Best Featured Actress. She would have a field day with NO TIME AT ALL. She's got to come back to Broadway one of these days.

Mame is going to be produced at the Kennedy Center (DC) starring Christine Baranski and Harriet Harris beginning next month. There are no official plans for it to transfer to Broadway following the KC run, but if it is well-received, the possibility certainly exists.

Fixing the book to "Chess" would not fix the "Chess" problems. It would be best to go back to what was done in London. If it had come over as it was, the "Tilting, spinning, lit-up chessboard" would be as famous as the Chandelier and the Helicopter.

If Baranski makes it to Broadway I will be beyond happy.

I'm still hoping for that revival of BAJOUR with Heather Graham.

It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

Anika was involved at one point, but she isn't anymore. Last I heard was that Marcy Harriell had the offer.

The audience can be fickle and want surprises. The bold new SWEENEY offered plenty.
But am I alone in wondering if two Doyle Sondheim de-constructions in a row might be too much of the same stylistic tweak, too close together? And COMPANY, despite the equisite score, doesn't have the sort of timeless dramatic book that SWEENEY has, as the pale, stock-ish Roundabout production proved. Between its songs, there's slim sitcom pickings of a very dated sort. I know Doyle's version is darker and streamlined; but the text remains.
I'm not talking about the theater devotees who will crowd in the first 3 months; I mean enough for a sustained commercial run.

Like Margo said earlier, On a recent Theatre Talk, Jonathan Pryce said My Fair Lady was possible in 2007 but he was unsure of his involvement.

I was excited about an Anika Noni Rose "Wiz", but Marcy Harriell is an enticing choice as well.
[title of show] on Broadway. it's time. believe.

I know for a fact that there is definitely a major Pippin Revival being cast now. It is set to play the Goodspeed playhouse this summer through September and then go on a 21 week National Tour. Again, if it's received well who knows. Stephen Schwartz is actively involved in the process of it and Gabriel Barre is the director and Mark Dendy is the choreographer. again, who knows. I guess time and reviews will tell. As far as the Wiz revival how about Nikki James for Dorothy or is it definite that Marcy received an offer?

All I care about is that Ted Neeley is touring in Jesus Christ Superstar for the last time, and I want it to hit Broadway.

Isn't Mary Poppins a revival and isn't it opening on Broadway soon?

In a single word whoa!
"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."

Thanks, theatreguy. For some reason I thought there was a stage production in London years ago before it was set to film.

Superstar was revived just 6 years ago and was a major flop, running just a few months and losing its entire ($10 million?) investment. It won't be back on Broadway anytime soon (if ever again).
