I could see Chita or Barbara Cook accepting the award...although I may be very off...

My best bet would be Chita Rivera. It would make up for deeming THE DANCER'S LIFE a new musical and making her eligible in the Best Actress category.

I say give it to Chita Rivera as compensation for making Dancers Life a musical. I also think if she cant get it Jonathan Tunick would be an excellent chocie as he has orchestrated so many great shows.

There we go. Harold Prince.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

his 21st Tony. must be quite a collection in his display case.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel.

It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known.

He's going to be directing LoveMusik next year and I heard Michael Cerveris is singed on to do it, so that will definitely be one to see! :)

As I said in an earlier post here, if anybody (still alive today) deserves a lifetime achievement award, he does.

Great choice.

Who else?
He deserves this.

Harold Price, I guess, is a good choice. Don't worry, Chita will probably get one eventually. As for future "Lifetime Achivement" awards, I would like Kristen Cheoweth(one of the best comic actresses in musical theater today) and Lea Salonga(one of the best dramatic actresses today) to each get one eventually. I am talking years from now about Kriten and Lea.

Who is Kristine?

I would have given it to Ben Gazzarra this year. He deserves something for putting up with Elaine Stritch after all those years.

Kristin and Lea don't have anything near the accomplishments of Chita Rivera.

Give them about 25 years.

Wait...people were serious about Kristin Chenoweth and Lea Salonga?
