2010-2011 Ahamanson Season speculatoin

Thread for speculations on the 2010-2011 Ahamanson season:

1- Menken's Leap of Faith musical has all but been announced.

2- November's launch of NEXT TO NORMAL tour (with Alice Ripley rumored to headline the tour)

3- I'd go out on a limb and predict an extended run of Billy Elliot. Since LA is a major market, I can see the tour making an extended stop in LA.

Any other rumors/speculations?

^I'll post for speculation what I did in another thread here since this is where it probably belongs anyways...

Recently I got a survey from the Ahmanson and Michael Ritchie about possible plays the Center Theatre Group were considering for the future either this season or the following one. There were some really good choices, of which both NTN and Leap of Faith were on the list.

They had two lists for musicals and plays. Here are some of the musicals that were included in the survey:

Billy Elliott (I'd bet this is a sure bet and the lady I talked to at the Ahmanson on March 7th wouldn't confirm or deny it when I suggested it was coming); La Cage Aux Folles; Memphis; A Little Night Music; Cirque du Soleil at the Kodak Theatre; Ragtime (Oh please let this go on tour!!!!!); Next to Normal (confirmed for the new season); Fela; Leap of Faith (also confirmed); Funny Girl, a new production of the 1964 hit romantic musical; Les Miserables (25th Anniversary)--(already announced for London and the Gammage in Tempe has this on their list for their new season); Rock of Ages (Looks like this is at OCPAC instead) and Million Dollar Quartet.

Lady at the Ahmanson said they were a month away from announcing the new season which should be somewhere around April 7th.

Just because OCPAC has Rock of Ages, it does not mean that the Ahmanson will not show it. They often share the same show on tour- for example Dreamgirls is going to OCPAC after the Ahmanson.

I hope that Million Dollar Quartet will NOT be coming to the Ahmanson. It's a mildly enjoyable small scale show which would probably be too small for even the Taper. I saw it in Chicago and found it mildly entertaining, but definitely not a show that should be coming to Broadway or going on a major national tour.

I am praying that Ragtime comes the Ahmanson. I am still kicking myself because I didn't see it during its Broadway run!

The Pantages is set to be the house for Billy Elliot with an open ended run beginning in 2011...
Now all I see are cute boys with short haircuts in a maze of their own...

^If that's true it won't be until the Fall of 2011 because their 2010-2011 season has been announced and it runs until late summer. I still say it's going to the Ahmanson where there is a huge gap from January to April 2011 and it fits in with the fact that the touring company of "Billy Elliott" is in the midst of a west coast swing.
