2012 Evita Recording?

Posted: 2/18/12 at 11:36pmI know some people will either bash the show or say it's a stupid idea to make a cast recording with Elena after the London one, but with Ricky Martin as Che why wouldn't they want to make a "New Broadway Cast Recording"? Even though we already have Elena on the last London recording, I think it would be wonderful if they captured the entire "re-orchestrated" score, just like they did with the OBCR. Thoughts?

I'm sure that an unknown's better singing and better handle on her accent are not enough reason to put in thousands for a new recording.
If anything, it would be because of Martin. That is, if they can figure out a deal with his own company.

How can you possibly make those judgements when the show hasn't even begun previews yet? I think he might end up being wonderful.
They don't record for posterity -- they record to make $.

Posted: 2/19/12 at 7:42pmI think that Roger is the cheese and Cerveris is the chicken? I'm confused. Martin is the ham for sure.

Posted: 2/19/12 at 8:06pmRoger is the chicken, largest portion of the show is evita on stage she dosn't leave. Peron is relatively small like a good helping of cheese. Marin is the ham, you ignore because you like the chicken and the cheese.

I disliked the London revival recording not just for Roger's distracting accent but for its thin tinnines.
If they do record another, I hope they correct that.

What's your excuse for the thin tinniness?
Oh, let me guess, that's how authentic tango sounds like, eh?

Honestly, I think Ricky Martin will probably end up being surprisingly good as long as he has the vocal stamina for the part.
And the ham is my favorite part of Chicken Cordon Bleu. Without it, the flavor would be quite bland.
