Ok 2013 wasn't all what it cracked up to be, except for Matilda, Pippin, Drood and Kinky Boots.
But 2014 look amazing already with the promised Bullets Over Broadway, Les Miserables, The King and I, My Fair Lady, Aladdin, Houdini, Rocky and just maybe Rebecca (well probably not, run out of money again).
Don't get your hopes up. Last year, many had similar thoughts about this season.
And you've left off about 20 shows that have announced plans for next season.

I have to respectfully disagree. Sure, every season has it's turkeys, but I think there was a little more than usual to enjoy this season.
Personally I can't imagine a musical about "Rocky" being any good. Can't wait for the melody of "Rocky" singing "Yo Adrian" - lol.

I'm interested in "Bullets Over Broadway" but how the hell does everything else on that list add up to "amazing"? Then again, I once saw Starbucks holiday paper cups described as "amazing" on this board, so maybe it's on that scale?
A new Ahrens and Flaherty show, ROCKY or otherwise, always makes for an interesting season. I'm looking forward to ROCKY.
I'm not getting my hopes up for KING AND I and MY FAIR LADY in the same season though. And I'd rather see FAIR LADY first.
Rocky? ehh, they did that this year but called it Golden Boy. its not gonna top that. maybe they should do an all asian or all african american version instead
No, dear, GOLDEN BOY was a straight drama by Odets that took place in the 1930s.
ROCKY is a musical that takes place in the 1970s.
They're both about boxing, but two completely different things. Were you trying to be clever?

I didn't think this season was a dud. It was way better than last season. Every year has its hits and misses, and I personally think there are a lot of "hits" this year (especially the 4 the OP mentioned).
Next season looks very exciting though!

With the creative team Disney has lined up, I don't know how anyone couldn't be excited for ALADDIN.
Tony Winner Casey Nicolaw (Direction/Choreo)
Tony Winner Alan Menken w/Ashman, Rice and Beguelin (Music/Lyrics)
Tony Winner Bob Crowley (Scenic Design)
Tony Winner Natasha Katz (Lighting Design)
Tony Winner Gregg Barnes (Costume Design)
That is seriously one of the best creative lineups ever assembled for a show in my opinion.

This season sucks. Next season will be amazing. EVERY YEAR.
WORST TONY BROADCAST EVER!

Disney has curiously removed all wording of ALADDIN opening at the New Amsterdam in Spring 2014 from the Aladdin website and the show's thumbnails on the NEWSIES and THE LION KING websites.
Probably nothing, but was just an interesting observation.
I hope Casey doesn't have Aladdin tap dancing.
I think this 2013 season has several potential long running hits. Matilda, Kinky Boots, Motown, Annie, Pippin & Cinderella all have the potential to recoup and possibly run over 2 years.
I hope Houdini with Hugh Jackman makes it onto the Great White Way next season.
Now with Cabaret all but confirmed, can we now say 2014 looks to be a wonderful theatrical year.
