If west side story reopens around the same time as the movie then they  will benefit from the cross promotion.

''I want Danny Burstein rewarded for the entirety of his career.''

So many things go into whether someone wins, or even gets nominated. It's got to be the right role in the right show. How was the show received and who else is in your category? There's timing, sentiment and simply luck.

This is Burstein's 7th Tony nomination, and he's almost certain to win. He got terrific reviews in ''Moulin Rouge!'' and his show is a big, fat hit. He's a beloved Broadway performer, and there's a sense that he's overdue to win. Earlier this season, Burstein won the Distinguished Performance prize from the Drama League, which meant he was singled out among ALL the performances of the season. Finally, in this COVID-curtailed era, there's the simple human story of Burstein dealing with his own coronavirus and his wife Rebecca Luker's ALS. Who isn't rooting for Burstein to get his happy ending at the Tonys?

Tveit, his ''Mouin Rouge!'' co-star, has had his own battle with COVID-19 and an overdue Tony narrative. ''Next to Normal'' brought him a Helen Hayes Award in D.C. and Actors Equity's Clarence Derwent Award for Most Promising Newcomer, but not a Tony nomination. ''Catch Me If You Can'' earned him nominations from the Drama League and the Outer Critics Circle, but not a Tony nomination. Earlier this year, Tveit was a Grammy nominee for the ''Moulin Rouge!'' cast album, and the Outer Critics named him an Honoree for Best Actor in a Musical. As the star of a 2019-20 smash (pre-shutdown), he's finally been rewarded with a Tony nomination. Assuming he gets 60% of the Tony vote, Tveit will literally have his eyes on the prize and in his hands.
