Wow, that is amazing that shows can't make it past the first night.
The only one on this list I got to see was DANCE A LITTLE CLOSER (aka CLOSE A LITTLE FASTER), and that's because I worked on it. How could a show with book and lyrics by the great Alan Jay Lerner be such a flop? True, it was a misbegotten mess, but it had a handful of good-to-adequate songs, and was really not so much worse than the average top-heavy show that appears on Broadway from time to time without a real reason for being. I'll give it credit for one more first: a love duet between 2 men (on ice skates yet) a mere month or two before La Cage Aux Folles made the broadway musical safe for same sex love songs for all time.
Of these, I saw Home Sweet Homer (as Odyssey), and Little Johnny Jones (but with David Cassidy in the lead).
Hmm. I saw Home Sweet Homer, Frank Merriwell, Gantry and LaStrada.
Was on my way to the second performance of A Broadway Musical but was greeted with a taped piece of paper on Lunt Fontanne door reading: "This show has closed. "
Would have loved to have seen Here's Where I Belong and Billy , both based on favorite novels of mine
