"The stage is where I live and come alive and act out all the things that go on in my life. It's not just what I do for a living, it's my shrink and my love affair. No one in my life has ever or ever will kiss me on the mouth like this lover called my relationship with my performance."

CAROUSEL (is this not the most beautiful score, ever???)
GYPSY (Broadway at its best)
CABARET (original vers or revisal..both are Excellent!)
SWEENEY TODD (Sondheim tops Sondheim!)
LES MIZ (always an emotional rollar coaster)

Here are some you will NEVER see anywhere near my top five: SUNSET BLVD (THE worst musical to win a Tony - only because it had no competition!); LION KING (great opening then it fizzles); WICKED (an uneven but allright show, but too many here keep proclaiming it "the best show ever" even though many of them have never seen anything else!); any Jukebox show (so needless on Broadway. Let them play Vegas where they belong.); and any ALW show not written in collaboration with Tim Rice. (Sorry Andrew..you write pretty tunes, but you are a lousy producer, a terrible judge of talent and horrible at producing cast albums!)

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Right now, I can only name the top four in no particular order: Wicked, The Producers, Avenue Q, Spamalot. But I think the fifth spot might go to Rent.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

FINIAN'S RAINBOW - Issues of Racism and Capitalism explored with a leprechaun and a classic score! HEAVEN!

FOLLIES - Musical theatre language dramatically used to explore the themes of time, perception, regrets and survival.

GYPSY - One of musical theatre greatest characters.

CAROUSEL - to qoute PASSION "every moment bursts with feeling"

SMILE - satiric, biting, mean and VERY telling of the mentality of American (I won't say specifically what part of the population) culture.
