Hi! I was wondering if anyone here knew of a broadway musical that's known for being both a broadway show and a tv series in the 70's?

Are you sure you aren't thinking of Fame, which was in the 80's?

The King and I.
TV Version with Yul Brynner...
Hm, maybe Fame, but I was told it was a 70's show. Plus, it's apparantly known as a Broadway show and Fame was just recently on off-broadway, and i don't believe it's still there, or was there for long. Perhaps the king and i? I'm just trying to figure out what my summer theatre group is doing, and i'm working with the information I was given. Thanks a lot!
maybe it was the odd couple..which isn't a musical tho but it was on broadway and a 70's tv show.

Though not a musical, Hot L Baltimore was a play Off-Broadway and sold to ABC as a series.
no, it's definately going to be a musical. I should find out later this week, and I'll let you guys know if you are curious.
Happy Days: The Musical - which is debuting in California this year
Charlie's Angels on Ice?
Good Times the musical?
The Facts of Life the musical with Harvey Fierstein as Mrs. Garrett?
Rhoda: Live! written by Michael John LaChuisa?
cute. But seriously - it's Happy Days
maybe it's Donny & Marie Variety Hour: the opera?
Love Boat (i seriously think this would be a GREAT musical!)
Sanford & Son the musical starring Brian Stokes Mitchell & Bill Cosby?
Wait. I misread - I thought this was a new show coming in - not one being done locally.
In that case - no idea
What's not clear is if the Broadway show and the TV Show BOTH had to be "from the '70s."
If Happy Days was a '70s TV show and a musical today, that wouldn't count.
Neither would my King and I suggestion, since the show was from the '50s, even if the TV show with Yul was in 1972.
...But what I wouldn't PAY for "Rhoda: Live on Ice!"

HAPPY DAYS is positively dre-head-ful.

Wow, I'm SO shocked you think that.
I'm sorry my post was worded badly! I didn't mean to be confusing. I am part of a summer theater group that is choosing one of their plays soon. I have been told that the one they are most likely going to pick is famous as a 1970's t.v series, as well as being a Broadway show. I apologize for the confusion.
It's still worded badly.
Just answer yes or no to the following...
1) The TV Show is from the 1970s. (You've already said yes.)
2) The Broadway musical version of this 1970s TV show can be from any decade, not just the '70s. (this still isn't clear)
And this isn't a yes or no question, but needs answering:
3) If the musical is from "any decade," then which came first, the TV show or the musical?
dude, the original post never said MUSICAL, said play from Broadway - why does Broadway equal musical?
it's obviously the Odd Couple.

It wasn't on Broadway, but "Schoolhouse Rock"?
The original post did say musical.
To answer #2, i have no idea. I don't know what the musical is, I'm not playing a game or anything, I'm asking you guys what you think it is because I have no idea.
I'm sorry if it was worded badly, but I just told you what I was told. Your suggestion of The King and I was helpful because I didn't know it was a t.v. series. It's Broadway premier doesn't have to be in the 70's as well. I was just told two things: 1) A 1970's t.v. series 2) A Broadway musical (when? I do not know)
FUNNY FACE
tv show in the 70's - CBS (30 mins)
starring Sandy Duncan
Role: Sandy Stockton
Status: Ended
Premiered September 18, 1971
Show Category: Comedy
AND A Broadway Musical. (Music: George Gershwin; Book: Fred Thompson, Paul Gerard Smith; Lyrics: Ira Gershwin)
sognatora---Thanks. You actually did just answer my question clearly.
But since we're not sure which came first (the chicken? or the egg!)... it's still a little vague. (hey, that rhymes!)
If he told you that it was a POPULAR TV show of the '70s, I would probably rule out my King & I idea. The TV show tanked. I actually remember it (vaguely)! Even though it was called "Anna & the King" (the non-musical title) it was clearly based on the musical, and even used the March of the Siamese Children for its theme song and starred Yul Brynner as the King. Incidentally, there was also a '60s TV series of "Meet Me In St. Louis," but the Broadway musical didn't happen until the '80s. Both were pretty bad.
And although I like Craig's idea of Happy Days... it's not a Broadway musical, or even a produced musical... yet.
Hmmm... IS A PUZZLEMENT! But fun to try and figure out. Sorry if I sounded harsh... I was just trying to get the facts clear.
EDIT: And children&art? Next time, read the post first... dude.
EDIT: best12, suck it!
why can't the poster just ASK what the show is? why such a mystery? if it's already scheduled, im assuming rights have been purchased, it doesnt sound like a freaking big deal.
Thanks, best12! I honestly have no idea if it was famous or not as a t.v., but I was told it was "known"... whatever that means! Talk about being vague.
And children&art... I believe my orignal post was me asking what the show could be, but whatever, take it as you may. I guess i sounded "mysterious", lol. And it really isn't that big of a deal, I'm just impatient and anxious to figure out what the show is going to be, and all you bww-ers are just so knowledgable!
When do you find out what it is??
I'd be curious to know if my guess of "Funny Face" was on track!
