700 Sundays Will Be Filmed For HBO (!!!!!!)

I just spoke with someone at the theater who told me that while they were filming the show tonight for Lincoln Center, HBO had set aside dates in January to come in and film the show.

Of course until an official announcement is made nothing is set in stone but this is one of the greatest things I've ever seen so I'm RIDICULOUSLY happy right now.

YES! YES! YES!!! I believe this was how I ended my post after I saw the show last week; with the hope that HBO would film it! So excited!

Great news. My only hope of seeing this is snagging rush tickets during the winter holiday, so if that doesn't pan out, this makes me feel better. Dad is a huge Billy Crystal fan and I'd love enjoy this with him.

To the person looking for cheap tickets, it has been on TKTS almost every night, including tonight, for 50% off.

No, that is not why this doesn't happen more. It doesn't happen more because filming any Broadway show is very expensive and various union contracts complicate the process. The audience is a niche group that is often too small to turn a profit. In most cases, it simply isn't worth the cost to the producers to film a show.

So I wonder if since this is after the official closing, it will be like The Nance taping back in August where we signed up to be a part of the audience. I liked that experience and would love to do it again.
