re: 7am update talks are off till 7pm tonight

I do hope they can get this together as I really miss my broadway. I was not too thrilled with the Local One when this started and now I just don't care anymore who wins. Just bring back my broadway!

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

It is really starting to seem like this is NEVER going to be resolved.

I really think they're gonna work it out this time. But it sure does feel like one of those so close...yet so far away deals.

Only 3 more hours until the negotiations start again!
I'm excited/nervous/anxious/elated. I have a good feeling about this time.

listen all i can tell you sheep, is that the deal is done, and as long as they can sign the papers they are back to work.

You can doubt me but i was the same person who told you YF top price was $450.00 2 weeks before the stinkin press got the story .....

And then we can find something new to talk about. I'm banking on coming on the site in the morning and reading jubilant posts. Here's to a meeting to end it all. And as for the break, why does everyone think it's a bad thing? These people had been negotiating from four in the afternoon to six in the morning. It wasn't that talks weren't going well. It was that it was a physical impossibility for them to keep going.
I know you. I know you. I know you.

You're just as negative as I was. They're optimistic. And so should we. Be. Me. I He be. Wha?! CUT!!!!!!

re: 7am update talks are off till 7pm tonight

No shows on Broadway have Tuesday matinees. Earliest it could be is Tuesday night. After that, Wednesday matinee (which almost all shows have--it's not like London where different shows have different matinee days during the week).

I'm cynical, myself. Until I see it, all bets are off. There have been too many "almost..." moments with this strike already to be hopeful.

Oh, it's not a bad thing in and of itself, but if I had tickets for Tuesday or Weds. (particularly the matinee), I'd think it was a bad thing. Why couldn't they have started these meetings on Saturday? re: 7am update talks are off till 7pm tonight ((

Those are my feelings as well. I'll believe it when I hear it...uhm, from non-erroneous sources, that is! :)

If Josh gets to 1,000 Bats in the Steeple without there being a deal, I hereby request that he return to "There is no hope!!" mode.

billynj - do you mind looking into your crystal ball and explaining why they didn't just 'sign the deal' this morning if that's all there is to it? Bruce Cohen has stated that, although they are close, they were not close enough to wrap it up. There is more to be discussed obviously.

As for your 'cush job' comments - quit it!

I do agree that it will be nice to move on from this topic so that I won't need to see people constantly put down the stagehands.

re: 7am update talks are off till 7pm tonight

whatever happened yesterday with the posts from people who had friends in shows that were told to report to the theatre?

not necessarily trying to be snarky -- more wondering what the real story turned out to be ... presumably, no one actually was able to enter a (picketed) theater last night.

Maybe those people were simply told to 'check in' pending returning to the theatre? This might be calling a hotline or checking a website to see if they will have a call.
