the 2 sides must truely loathe each other at this point.Local one works many other venues so they are not hurt as much as another union would be.The theater owners have insurance in place to cover the losses.This does not look good, the only hope is the other unions pressuring local one to get this done.

Talks Adjourned in Broadway Strike

Talks in the Broadway strike were adjourned at 6.30 a.m. this morning between the league representing the theater owners and producers and the union representing the stagehands.

After negotiating through the night, the two sides announced that they would adjourn, and the union said they would meet again at 6.30 p.m. this evening.

Bruce Cohen, a spokesman for the union, said: “We are closer than we were twelve hours ago but not close enough to have a deal.”

The talks to end the strike, which has left 26 theaters dark for 16 days, were being held at the law firm of Proskauer Rose.

As frustrating as it it, I think ultimately it's a good idea. Let both sides go home and get some rest. Hopefully, everyone will be the better for it. Better one day of delays than (potentially) another week or more.

Other sources I am reading are saying they go back to the table at 6:30pm not 7:00pm.

The update from here on BBW says that they left the talks at seven AM and were taking a 12 hour break. Thus returning at seven PM. I think it just is different depending on what news source says what time they got out this morning. Still it is a 12 hour break which seems like it would be much needed at this point.

I believe that the union brought 25 to the bargaining table. Im sure the league brought about the same.

It is just a phrase, and obvious enough that if one were to keep posting the setup line "...locked in a room with lots of water and no bathroom" the "pissing contest" response would come up anytime someone with a brilliant mind was on-line.
