8/21 7pm Once Around the Sun- And you thought BROOKLYN was bad?!

I caught the Sunday 7pm performance of this show tonight. Here goes..

From the first number, I found the cast to be talented, yet they just didn't seem into it, so I didn't feel a need to be into it. I have to say, I really thought this show was just HORRIBLE. It was like Brooklyn but with a not-as-talented cast, worse music, and an intermission to sustain the agony of having to sit through it. I didn't think Asa's acting was bad at all; I think he's hott, but that's a totally different topic all together. I think Asa, Caren, and Maya were the most talented definitely. The rest of the cast seemed talented too, but they just didn't really catch my eye at all. The book is HORRIBLE. First of all, it reminds me of something that DOESN'T take place in the 21st century, I don't know why, but it just reminds me of something that takes place during "Happy Days" or something. The mediocre score in the first act, and most of the second, doesn't help either. The music is so boring that it hurts. I liked "Something Sentimental" a lot though! G-I-R-L? WHAT?! Are you KIDDING me?! It doesn't take talent to write a piece of **** like that! I liked Maya's song in the second act, "Love and Live On." Well, I don't know if I so much as liked it, but she was amazing singing it, because she's Laura Dias. I swear to god, at some point during the second act, even though I was enjoying that more, I really expected Maya to start singing "Once Upon a Time" because that's just what felt "right" for such a musical. "Just Another Year" was okay. I really didn't feel this show deserved a standing ovation, but my view was blocked at the end, so I stood and clapped unenthusiastically. There were also obnoxious people sititng in the theatre who whistled and screamed in the middle of EVERY song. God, save it for the end.

All in all, I'm glad I paid $3 for this show. It wasn't worth any more.

While I am not in any way defending the show, I do feel I need to point out that G-I-R-L is supposed to be rubbish, that's the whole reason it's there.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

I was the Show on 8/20 5pm. Worst crap I have ever seen. Set was crap, tickets are over priced. Score/Book crap! Acting/singing fine at best. This show looks like it was staged in a church basement and I have seen better shows in a church basement. Save your money and go see Trailer Park.

Yeah, you can never escape Alli, no matter how hard you try! re: 8/21 7pm Once Around the Sun- And you thought BROOKLYN was bad?!

My question actually is why people are posting Caren's business on public message boards? Unless you spoke to Caren, she said everything verbatim and said "hey, go post it on a message board", you're potentially screwing her even further by posting misinformation.

awww, caren lyn! re: 8/21 7pm Once Around the Sun- And you thought BROOKLYN was bad?!

She's my favorite actor. She seems to be plagued with bad shows. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't like it.

Caren needs to revive Evita NOW...she was SO good! :)
awkward.

I suppose this was by no means a perfect show, but does anyone actually LIKE any shows on these boards?

Once Around the Sun was no means as bad as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang...really the only show I've seen recently that had absolutely no redeeming qualities.

*headdesk*

There have been people who posted that they liked Once Around The Sun.

There are also people who don't mind Chitty Chitty Bang Bang; you haven't got to look hard for its redeeming qualities.

But no. Everybody hates everything! Different strokes, buddy.

A work of art is an invitation to love.
