Drama League Awards 2026

This entire production is Lear's direction! Every scene is staged very intentionally.  I'll never understand how folks think this production is a "park and bark" concert.  The staging has gotten a lot more complex since its origins at City Center.

Who's taking Leading Actress in a Musical this year?

I will also say that I saw Andre DeShield's final performance before his week away and his voice was in particularly rough shape.  He didn't hold his Old Deuteronomy note at all.  His presence in the show is fabulous, but he wouldn't have my vote - especially after winning several years ago for playing another elder master of ceremonies...

Who's taking Leading Actress in a Musical this year?

Other than Joshua Henry, I found Caissie Levy and Ben Levi Ross's performance to be the beating hearts at the center of this production of Ragtime.  Both of their characters' arcs (and the depth they provide to their characters) are arguably the catalysts for the entire story.  Levy just recently shared in an interview that someone pointed out to her that her character's "I will take responsibility" is what sets forth the change in the show.  And Younger B

You haven't seen it, but are certain it's flawed?

In my eyes it is a perfect production of a perfect musical and I would give it 3 of the 4 acting awards.  I'd give Featured Actress to Ana Gasteyer.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/10/26

I had no idea what was going on with the in-memoriam-but-not-actually-in-memoriam slideshow of people at the beginning of the second act and then later found out that I was supposed to watch a documentary as homework beforehand. Whoops!"

I've never watched Paris is Burning, though I did watch

Very Early 2026 Tony Winner Predictions

I think it's difficult to write a musical with perfectlydeveloped characters. Most musicals, even very good ones, lack in that department. But minimizing Two Strangers to a surface level, primitive Hallmark movie is ridiculous and short minded. B

THE LOST BOYS Reviews

I honestly can’t listen to a single song from Queen of Versailles without cringing at at least one lyric (and usually a majority of lyrics). While a few of the songs are mildly static in the show, Lost Boys is an album I will listen to very frequently. And after viewing the show many musical moments are stuck in my mind.
In contrast, I’ve listened to two strangers multiple times and seen it once, and can really only recall two musical moments/songs.

Unpopular Opinions

Unpopular to those above: I thought Cats:Jellicle Ball was as dramaturgically successful as any piece of theater.

Titanique, however, was unsuccessful to me as theater, comedy, or musical revue.

2026 Tony Awards Nominations!

I didn't say I'd vote for Cats over Ragtime for revival.  Ragtime would likely have my vote for Revival, Actor, Actress, Director, and Featured Actor.  I solely said I would have voted for Tempress to win Best Featured Actress.

Otherwise, all the other nominees were pretty spot on.

I continue to be baffled by the praise given to Nichelle's performance. I found her easy

2026 Tony Awards Nominations!

To anyone who understands storytelling through choreography, it’s not surprising Latarro has yet to receive a nomination. The movements she strings together to whatever counts she’s decided on are insane. The Chess choreography was the worst element of that show. Everything she does is too try hard a

2026 Tony Awards Nominations!

TheGingerBreadMan said: "I would be absolutely shocked if Cats doesn't take home Best Revival, despite only one performance nod. While this production of Ragtime features some stunning performances, the other elements (direction, design, etc) are not top-tier, and not what I'd hoped for in regards to one of the greatest musicals of all time returning to Broadway. The strength lies in the writing of the show itselfand the cast. Jellicle Ballexcels in more areas."

2026 Tony Awards Nominations!

While there are some nominations I was hoping for that didn't happen, I'm really happy about:

- Aya Cash - I've loved her since You're the Worst and found her performance in Giant breathtaking.

- Nicholas Christopher - not a surprise, but this man is putting in the work and can't wait to see what he does next.

- Joshua Henry - He should have won for Carousel (and his performance in The Wrong Man continues to live in my memory) and I can't see

Beaches reviews

Didn't Paradise Square have a lot of unpaid bills - including payment for work on the cast recording, which is why it was never realeased.

THE LOST BOYS Reviews

Emo is, by definition, a subgenre of rock music...

Interesting that people are getting "rock energy". This, to me, felt like a cast of Spring Awakening performed an emo musical whilstholding guitars (with a random, single attempt, at a "rock song" ina mosh pit visual).

It's me! Born in 83 and going back with my 10 and 12 year olds...

I actually see “Wild” charting as some kind of mid-life female

THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES Original Broadway Cast Recording Thread

I was hoping to like this score on second listen. The music is very listenable but the lyrics are often very terrible! I’m especially shocked at the lyrics for Pretty Wins, which everyone seemed to point to as the highlight of the score.

CHESS 2025 Broadway Cast Recording Thread

The sound quality/balance on the two tracks released so far is impeccable.  And both vocals sound excellent as well. Can't wait for the entire thing!

He played Max in Sunset Blvd after David Thaxton departed, and there was absolutely nothing "aw shucks" about it. He had menace, passion, and a great rumbling voice that shook the seats. He got a standing ov

Musical adaptation of THE LOST BOYS.

That was the most excited my ears have been by hearing a new piece of Broadway music for the first time since I can't remember when.  Y'all are ridiculous.
