Anybody else noticing a trend?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Musicals that take place in an office setting?

"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert

Bad, better, BEST?

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

have you also noticed these are actually old ideas.

9 to 5 was a movie first. the audience for that film was office works.

H2$ is a revival when that audience was also working

Promises promises is also a revival so there is not trend in new office musicals

those have been written a million times but the trend that we are seeing in these shows are Revivals and Already used ideas. Shows that are being recycled. GREAT SHOWS but no originality.

thats the only trend I see.

Well certainly not a NEW trend. B'way musicals have ALWAYS included works based on something else, be it PLAYS or books or real life or movies (this more as of late) A large majority of successful musicals in the last 50+ years can be tied to another "source".

This past season was the year of the revival. Not so much this year...H2S is one of the few (Musicals, anyway)

So the only trend I see is: office settings -- but Capn -- what did you have in mind?

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

All three have had quasi-majorish stars making Broadway debuts? (Janey, Hayes, Shannon and Radcliffe)

NOT a b'way debut for Radcliffe, he was in Equus (and I thought he was superb!) in 08-09 season.

Office-centric musicals that some are going to say are a byproduct of a somewhat poorly rated TV show?

Nor a Broadway debut for Janney, who was in Present Laughter and A View from the Bridge in the late 90s. Debut in a musical yes, Broadway debut, no.

I had nothing in mind. I was making fun of a different thread someone else posted.
